Why doesn't anyone else (Anderson, Spikes, PSA, etc) make a receiver with the same pattern as the Six8?  I thought I read that LWRC didn't make the dimensions proprietary?  Those sets are like $600+.

I would have thought by now that other lower manufacturers would want to sell a lower that can be used with 6.8 PMAGs.  I know 6.8 is a niche but still...

I am going with it is patented.

Maybe you read the patent runs out soon, who knows,

With the market flooded right now, pretty much anything to make more sales would be good is my guess.

On edit, I just thought as I hit send, those take that special 6.8 Magpul mag I think, that is only slightly longer, easily confused with regular Pmags.

I had thought that LWRC was going to allow others to make lowers/uppers after a point in time.

This is the way I understand it. They are allowing others to make lowers of that pattern. But nobody has so far.

Thought about getting one of those lowers for a second 6.8 build up. But with 6.8 mag prices down and the crazy cost of the LWRC lower, I decided against it. It wasn't worth it for just the cost of the Magpul mags.

LWRC wants too much for their damn lower.

I'm running a YHM on a PSA blem.

If they either dropped the price or let others make them, then I might reconsider.

I have zero experience with running a LWRC and "standard" pattern lower side by side to compare, but can't imagine that being able to use 6.8 PMAGs is that important.

No but he's still an asshole. Personally I like his brand of assholishness sometimes.

I still don't understand why more companies don't cut that pattern lower

Ehh, why?
Cost of new barrel+bolt+mags is still A LOT cheaper than going the LWRC route...

Now, that being said, I wish Magpul would make 6.8 followers so I could turn any mag into a 6.8 mag

$600 for a AR-15 lower just to use PMAGS?

LOL fuck that.

I am waiting for a 10.5" Six8 to be set free from tax stamp jail. Supposedly, LWRCi was going to open up the magwell spec. Don't know what came of that plan. It's an awesome set up though.

It actually is a decent size difference, between the two. Would be hard pressed to confuse the Six8 Pmag for the traditional.

Ironically, I think the magwell has a lot of potential for aluminum / steel magazines. The Six8 lower spec would also give more room for 6.5 Grendel and 7.62x39 magazines. I think it all depends on inexpensive lowers.

Hopefully someone starts making a more reasonable priced version.  The LWRC is full ambi, so that's where some of the cost is comming from.

My guess is because the newer DPMS GII sized receivers are the way of the future.

Barely any larger than a Six8 but can fit .308 based rounds.

Mine weighs in at 9lb. 4oz. with optics and a loaded 10 round mag. Also a piston gun...

ETA - Sorry ipotato pic...

Exactly why I don't have one. I want someone who doesn't have their head up their ass to make a lower that takes PMAGs for a normal-ish price.
