I'm trying to see the issue...
They are not Islamic... They are power mad megalomaniacs who create power vacuums to exploit. Using the Muslim definition and guidance, Muslims don't kill other Muslims, rape, injure the innocent, and also do not harm 'people of the book' (roughly meaning those who believe in the Old Testament teachings). By their 'holy book', they have committed mortal sins that cannot be forgiven. State? No. A self proclaimed caliphate is not a state. The bottom line is they are murdering psychopaths who need to be hunted down and all trace of their existence wiped from the face of the earth! But that's just me... |

While they're obviously Muslims and stuff, I actually think the right needs to jump on board with the "They're not truly Islamic" meme that the liberals are using, because their strict adherence to Islam is how they gain legitimacy. I think that by denying them that, you're taking away a certain part of where they get their power. Spread the idea enough, and eventually it'll be seen as true.

Islam spread by conquest in its early years. At some point ISIS will be a state if it can hold and administer the land. Well, can we delegitimice them by denying they are Islamic? I don't think so. Perhaps other Muslims can do this, but I don't think any spin we put on it would work. On the flip side, we can confuse ourselves about the nature of our enemies by trying to spin it. I think we need a no BS look at who our enemies are, first. Frankly the best way to undercut ISIS is by delivering defeats and making them hurt. But we have essentially left the region. |
