Does anyone have any experience with the German Fernspan packs? Or can anyone suggest something similar in a $70-150 price range http://www.transworldsurplus.co.uk/rucksacks_holdalls.htm http://www.ironwolfent.com/cgi-bin/quikstore.cgi?store=&search=yes&detail=yes&product=1048&category=&keywords=fernspan&hits_seen=&page=search.html&and=&affiliate_id=&exact_match=yes |

I've never seen nor worn one of these packs, and so can't speak directly, but I have done a significant amount of hiking/backpacking/trekking/climbing and the #1 most important feature of any backpack, I think, is fit. If you like the features of this pack, then do try it on for size, but only if you can return it if it doesn't suit you perfectly. A well-fitting pack has an amazing ability to lighten the perception of the load, and an ill-fitting pack is miserable. IMHO |
