Just got my new catalog from sportsman guide and on page 45 there is a ad for 720 rds of British SS109 .223,Part # DX3K-74688 for the price of $85.47, but when you go to order the ammo on the phone or online they say the price is $149.97, after being tossed around by there so called customer service for ten minutes, they said they don't have to honor the ads, excuse me for not understanding I have worked and managed a automotive shop for years and when the company screws up an ad we honor them, I don't know how many times this happends to other company's but they Know what CUSTOMER SERVICE MEANS PS I am turning in my sportsman guide buyers club card, it seams thats useless too |
| They [b]DO[/b] have to honor the ad, unless they have a disclaimer stating they are not resposible for printers error. Just ask Snap-On, they had a flyer out a couple of years ago that had a mispriint on the price of one of their products $200 dollars difference. They sold what hey had at that price,(quickly I might add) which were quie a few . |

Thanks for the info on that ammo, but it still does not justify the way there acting, I used Sportsman Guide alot since I live in Minneapolis, it was easy to drive over there that wait for something to come in the mail, but guess what, I'll wait from now on, the lost my money, and I have been shopping there for over ten years. |

BK1 beat me to it. But I'm not about to boycott ANYONE due to a typo or misunderstanding. You called to see if that was actually the case. They said NO. Find someone else. Personally I avoid tons of problems like this by dealing ONLY WITH REPUTABLE PEOPLE. You don't have to trick Eric the Ammoman into giving you good prices. But if you run around trying to save a nickle you are gonna end up with crappy ammo, magazines with floorplates wired on or in my case a bunch of airsofts passed off a LE training rifles. There are tons of companies I don't deal with. In every case there is a reason. |

As a Manager of a Midas store corprate office has had mistakes in there ads from time to time but I never have turned a customer away from my shop because of there screw up, I don't know how many Oil changes we have done for $9.95 and it should have been $19.95, at $9.95 that don't even cover the cost of the oil, filter and wht I have to pay the Tech for doing it, but guess what that customer comes back for more service |

Mike and Steyr: We're all friends here, brothers, but $85.47 for 720 rounds of SS109 is not entirely out of the ballpark for a sale price (Equivalent to a couple of SA battlepacks at my local fun store). I would NEVER pay $149.97 for the same amount of ammo, at today's prices. I won't say BOYCOTT, but I will say BAIT AND SWITCH. |
| This is what attorney generals are for, call the AG of SG's state and see what they can do. This could be an intentional "misprint" to draw customers in. Personally, the difference in the prices you mentioned doesn't sound like a misprint. However, I don't think that a boycott is in order for something so trivial as this. |

Don't most ads have "not responsible for mistakes in printing" or some such legal mumbo jumbo on them? I vaguely remember from Contracts 101 that advertisements are merely an offer to negotiate, v. a firm offer that one can accept and then sue for breach of contract over. Of course there are probably state laws that also control advertising to avoid bait and switch. I haven't bought much from Sportsman's Guide. They have been convenient in the past because you could get a couple of boxes of something to try out v. getting 500-1000 rounds of stuff that you had never tried in your gun before. I have heard that with new management Cheaperthandirt is charging higher shipper and handling charges, though I don't know if it's true. I mostly buy stuff from Eric. It gets frustrating going to 10 websites and setting up an order to see what the shipping and handling charges will be. Besides I get ammo from him two days after I order it. [:D] |

Ok I agree this may be bait and switch, but this is not the first time I have had this happen with Sportsman Guide, There have been at least five times in about two years this has been done when I get a magzine or look online and then go over to the retail store in South St Paul and the price is not what there advertising in a mag or online, I'm not a lawyer but there is something about false advertising, If thats the case In my shop I'll post a sign saying We don't have to honor any advertisement this company has or price, we can charge you what ever we want. Now how long am I going to stay in line of work or how many customers am I going to loose, see what I am saying here? |

While you may find some bargain prices from time to time at the Sportsman's Guide, [b]May God Help You If You Ever Have To Deal With Their Customer Service.[/b] I got stiffed by them for an item I ordered, but never received once. That outfit is a joke. It will be a cold day way, way South of here before they ever get another dime of my money. Fvck those miserable arseholes. [pissed] Even after I told them what they could do with any future catalogs, they keep sending them to me. They do make great firestarter, though. I even got a few friends to sign up for their mailing list so I can burn several of those miserable catalogs each mailing. [:)] |

Man do I want to relive this one? Ok, the company was Flash Frame Distributing or some crap. They now advertise in SGN with full page ads "REEL GUNS for Movies." etc. Have lots of copy about "includes all necessary permits, etc." and "LE Training Guns." No mention is made of "airsoft" in any of their ads. I wondered if they were in fact HK MP5PTs, which only chamber trainng rounds and fire a plastic training bullet. They are made like MP5s, but cannot chamber live ammo. Other than that they are made by HK and identical to HKMP5s in most other respects. So I called and asked. They didn't seem to know what a PT model was, but not the first time someone didn't know what they were selling. I was told they were marked "MP5" and "took standard MP5 mags." When I asked what is the difference between these and real MP5s, they said "MP5s will kill, these won't." What arrived were plain ole airsoft MP5s for $400 each. About the LE price for a PT model. I sent them back and called my credit card company to reverse the charges. They refused them, told the card company I sent a box of wood and after a year of bullshit Bank of America ruled in their favor. |
| I've dealt with them a lot and NEVER had a bad experience. Ammo can be very cheap with the buyer's club and their discount code promotions. Throw in the four pay interest free plan and you can buy a few cases at a good price when money is tight from time to time. That and their no questions asked return and refund policy at ANY time is great. I once returned a short wave radio that died after seven years... the warranty on it was only six months. Within two weeks they had credited my charge card for the full purchase price - just keep your invoices. |
