Are there any specific regulations I should know about if I want to bring any weapons into the US? Obviousley it has to be legal here to bring it in. Im not talking about importing large quantities just a few handguns/rifles Ill pick up while Im in Germany.

Then, you need to find an FFL to fill out a Form 6 and try to get it approved for you. Depending on the items, it may be impossible, or merely difficult. And it probably won't be cheap.

I have always wondered why the hell is it so hard to do this. If the gun is legal to own here why do you think its so difficult to get the hunk of steel over here?

As well as the many UN treaties regarding the proliferation of "small-arms." Remember that the whole point of government (if you ask the people currently in it) is to allow the government to control everything, "for the good of the people."
