------------ http://www.dailycomet.com/article/20150912/LETTERS/150919928?Title=Gun-control-is-necessary 1) Stop the production and sales of automatic or semi-automatic guns and hollow-point ammunition. 4) A date should be established that would then require new gun customers to be registered with documentation, and it should be breaking the law to resell to anyone without proper registration, similar to selling an automobile. Gun owners must be licensed. This is a country of laws and peaceful changes — not continuing civil wars. |

The "you should have to be licensed and registered like a car" mentality doesn't even make sense. Even if you have a suspended drivers license you can still buy a car no questions asked, you just can't drive it on a public road. Not to mention that despite all the licensing and registration requirements, cars still kill more people than guns! It's a terrible example for those who think licensing will magically reduce crime. |

Once again the side that lays exclusive claim to common sense, altruism, and compromise proves itself to be ignorant, self-absorbed, and unreasonable. It's good to see it in writing. Truth is most, if not all at this point, Democrats believe in exactly what she wrote. They just aren't as ignorant as to say it in public. I'm quite certain in the Obama, Clinton, and Sanders inner circles, her suggestions are being discussed. It's what they want. We best never forget or fall for their lies. |

Something is very wrong in society when there are those who are so threatened that they feel it is necessary to take the law in their own hands to hunt and kill other people. This is a country of laws and peaceful changes — not continuing civil wars. How the fuck is protecting/defending yourself considered taking the law into your own hands? |

Funny how the anti gun always wants to use the "automobile" when they want rules against guns but fail to acknowledge that way more are killed by cars than guns in this country every year. Also the dumbass is wrong on it being illegal to sell to a car to someone without proper registration. I can sell a car to anyone I want to with cash. No requirement on me to check if they have a drivers license or even insurance. Also people only need to be licensed to drive if they leave their property. So People keeping their guns at home shouldn't need a license same as auto owners. |

Once again the side that lays exclusive claim to common sense, altruism, and compromise proves itself to be ignorant, self-absorbed, and unreasonable. I am sure Its the government again. It is my contention that there are no "Grassroots" gun control movements. I doubt strongly that any have truly existed. If you where to look carefully and deeply into all of these groups you will find ties to our government in one form or another. Using our taxes to promote gun bans? No way! Obama: "Under the radar gun control" |

So, register the gun owners not the guns. Perhaps we could wear some sort of identifier so our fellow citizens know who we are, maybe like an armband or something. This way, if someone doesn't like gun owners, they can avoid us, refuse to serve us, that sort or thing. |

I bought my first car when I was 14. The seller signed the title, but left the space for my name blank. I drove it on farm roads for two years, then sold it. The guy handed me the cash, and I handed him the title (with the buyer's name still left blank) and the keys. There is absolutely no record of that car ever belonging to me, even though I owned and drove it (legally) for two years. I used to play with the idiots that used the "just like a car" line. "Oh, so once I register the gun, I can legally carry it anywhere in the US, including Washington DC and New York City? And if it's just an 'off-road use only' gun, I can keep it at home and not be required to register it?" |
