I want to build a small smoke house. I've never smoked anything in my life, but bought two books on how to build them.
This coming Sping I'm chopping some trees down. I'd like to make one a totem pole. . Seriously.
What odd projects do you want to do? |
|
A mancave. A tall privacy fence built off a shed. The shed will have pluming, electricity, insulation, drywall and a window unit AC. I will have a tv and a computer along with a fridge and a big chest freezer. A futon and a few other comfy chairs for interrogation.
The fenced in area will be enough to keep my boat, truck, mower, etc. I will have a horse trough as my own personal tub for dips on those hot days, right next to the hammock I think. There will be a fish cleaning counter under an overhang on the side of the shed and a grill and smoker out near the picnic table. I will have beer and booze and can scratch myself and say fuck alot. It will be my garden of eden where eve can visit but has no say in anything... Scuse me while I clop. clopclopclopclopclopclop.

A smoker is on my list as well. I have a mini/fridge that the compressor went out in that a friend gave me. I am going to line it with SS & make a small smoker.
Another DIY project slated for this fall is a screen room addition in my back yard. I have also been working on a wind generator idea. I have approximately several hundred feet of fine 8G wire, some components for the turbine & housing. Need some PM's & I will be ready to start construction. One thing that has also been on my to-do-list is a VTOL. I like the hobbyist aerospace realm & have a few ideas on how to make one. Imagine 600-800HP in a ~2000lb craft. |
| I've been tinkering with getting a forge and smelter set up. I just haven't had time to actually do anything past a brief test so far, but that's my current backyard project, so that I can start playing with blacksmithing and metal casting. I've been saving a lot of junk brass that will eventually become bar stock and cast parts. |
| This winter I'm building a structure that will serve as both a tree house/fort, for my son and a deer stand for myself. I want to incorporate a climbing wall, rope ladder and rappelling setup. I plan on having solar lights, fan and a propane heater inside for him. |

I'd like to do a stream (pondless, probably) and a bocce ball court.
Other than that it's standard stuff like laying paths and landscaping. ETA: I do have a big shed with a solid chimney that the previous owner did blacksmithing in. Floor and half the walls are cement board and it's got 120 and 210 power outlets and a breaker box. No idea what to do with it. |

If our new business ever starts giving me time and money my patio needs a makeover. The problem is, thanks to Pinterest the wife will never be able to decide on what we want. I just want a covered deck or patio with an out door kitchen area. The last house I cut a hole in the back of the brick house with a skill saw, installed french doors and built a nice covered tiger wood deck. It was pretty awesome.
ETA: The back pasture area, about 1/3 of an acre is just sitting there doing nothing. We've talked about doing some sort of dirt figure 8 BMX track for the kids to ride their bikes. |

Ive wanted for a few years now to get a large diameter wood block or slice of a log for use in throwing knives/hatchets. I think learning would be tough but would turn fun in a few months or whatever It doesn't take long. My nephew and I learned in a day and could hit a round off of a tree every time on day two. |

Machine and fab shop in part of the garage. Foundry. Gotta put in a garden next spring. Going to build a 6' tall by 15' retaining wall and put a driveway on it because fuck on street parking and neighbors. Outdoor "kitchen" area built of the same block. I have to fence in a 50'x20' dog run. Three layers of shingles and a sub roof that need to be history. Siding. Stain the deck and put a real railing on it, this was built of nails. Still want to do the CCTV thing and I need 45'x25' driveway slab poured for around back.
Lots to do here around the Bear residence. |

Outdoor audio system for the hot tub. I'm thinking something simple. Like a bluetooth receiver that goes to a couple of auto-on digital amps, one for main speakers and one for a sub. So you can walk out to the hot tub, dial up some music on your phone and it automatically turns on the sound system. So we never have to go inside to fiddle around with buttons or dials. Want to build a weather proof sub for the system. Thinking something sealed with poly cone and a truck bed liner finish, tucked into the eaves of the house.
Wife wants a bigger chicken coop. The one we have now is tiny, rated for 6 chickens but only comfortably fits 2. Wife wants a fenced in garden, with water/sprinklers set up. Some more automatic sprinkler lines. Some more trees served by said water. Tear down my kid's jungle gym and replace it with the ultimate arbor/hammock stand . . . which would be served by the outdoor sound system. New shop/mower storage, with water and power. All it takes is time and money . . . |
. Seriously.
