My black lab is the first dog that I got as an adult. She's incredible. She loves every single person that she's ever come across.
Except one. A "friend" came over cause we were all carpooling to a hockey game. My gf and I had known him for maybe 6 months from playing softball. Immediately my Carley wanted nothing to do with him and did not want him in our house. I had never seen her act that way to anyone. Yea...well...turns out she was right. I'm still dumbfounded about the whole thing. He ended up being a weirdo and an asshole. |

Dogs are the best, I have 4, 3 Australian Shepherds, very loyal, very territorial, they alert on strangers, excellent guard dogs as well as a Chow/Shepherd mix that has actually put his life on the line for me during another dog attack.
All are loyal and fun to be around. My oldest red merle is probably my fav though, he just has some quality to him that you find you are bonding too. |
|
Loyal, and with longer memories than many give them credit for I think.
We used to have a couple friends who had an Australian Shepherd named Dobbie. They were married and both worked a lot, often having to go out of town for long stretches. Well, me and the missus dog-sat Dobbie when they were away, keeping him at our house with our dog. During this I guess Dobbie became rather fond of me. In the summer of '10, they split up in a fairly nasty divorce, and R moved back to CA afterwards, taking Dobbie with her. This June, the missus told me that R was going to be back in town for a bit, and had Dobbie with her, and was gonna visit us at some point. "Cool," I thought. Well, a couple days later it was a Saturday morning, and as is my custom, I took our dog to the levee by Bisso Marine to play tennis ball. Once we got out of the truck and started, I noted that there were some other folks out there, including, in the distance by the Corps of Engineers' warehouse, about 600 yards away, a couple of blurry little people with a little grey thing with them that I took to be a dog. Well that blurry grey thing was a 65 pound Australian Shepherd named Dobbie, which I know because he came tearing at full speed the whole distance from there to Bisso barking, and jumped into me at full speed, knocking me down and going crazy wagging his whole body and licking me. According to R, as she was walking with him, he suddenly stopped still, then took off running and wouldn't listen to her calls for him to come back. She had no idea what was going on until she ran close enough to recognize me and my dog. And I should note that while the presence of my dog, known to Dobbie, might have clued him in as to who I was, the last time he saw me and went to the levee with me I was in a white 2000 F-150, but by this June I was in my new red Nissan Frontier, so he didn't recognize the truck. |

Cool story bro! |

Quoted: It really speaks the world when you sit down and the next thing you know you have a furry snout kissing you in the face and a wagging tail. I have nothing against cats but dogs really are man's best friend. https://scontent-dfw1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11870829_10153757115077018_1628358093507981944_n.jpg?oh=cfb6ae32cf66a8bc8ca1c2a6f9db5552&oe=56627268 j/k, dogs are fantastic. I just lost one of mine last night to old age (16). Dachshund. |
My current male Rottie and friend. He's a good dog.

My previous male…… Adel. I don't have the words to describe this dog. He was the best dog I ever owned. He was unbelievable in every way. He had to leave me 11 years ago after 14 years of love and devotion. I think of him everyday…… everyday. He's about 13 in this picture. IMG_0135 by R A, on Flickr

They are just all around awesome. They will do anything to please. I trained my female to retrieve downed birds my shorthair had pointed. |
