[ARCHIVED THREAD] - The Strain (Page 1 of 2)

I love the show but the last episode pissed me off.
First, oh noes my shoulder, K98s are brutal
Second, there's no night vision in all of Red Hook? Except for 1 pair of binos for the councilwoman to see how fucked you are? Amateurs. Finally, oh sure, you're glad the people came to rescue you with their tire irons and firemans axes, and "you'll never forget" what happened here today. Until tomorrow, when you forcibly disarm them. |

And apparently, they didn't feel that the UV lights, that, you know, were keeping them from being overrun by a horde of worm ridden vampires, weren't important enough to warrant back up generators. |

Boom Head Shot, they do it all the time, make it look easy. Unless its one of the boss man bad guys, then they cant hit crap. two times this episode when they had a free shot, they missed. Looked like in the preview he got a scope for that K98. |

A bolt action rifle is not what I would want to be carrying in that scenario. And everyone was running out of ammo so soon into the battle? |

Oh, goddamnit. I think this show is formulaic trash but it has gotten better. TRUF. However, the second book nearly made me vomit when the vampires' master plan for exterminating the human race was revealed.... Are you ready? Sit down. GLOBAL WARMING |

The master goes to a lot of effort to keep the human race alive in the books. Remember where Nora goes to rescue her mom? Although the way they've changed the story for the show that whole part of book 3 is cut out now. |

You should read something better like The Blade Itself. You'd dig Glokta. |

The books were good. I haven't seen any of the shows. A LOT of stuff added that wasn't in the books. In a good way? Or no? Not in a good way IMHO. It's dragging the story out too much. Quoted:
ETA.....oh, and since When is Red Hook in Staten Island????? ![]() The mayor on the show asked her to come to Red Hook because she did a good job on Staten Island. Her character is another one added that wasn't in the books and takes up too much of the storyline. |

I just finally picked up on that she had come from Staten Island to do the same thing in Brooklyn.... |

He was shot in the shoulder just an episode ago give him more than a day to heal. What bothered me was the sound of brass hitting the ground every time he shot the rifle but before he cycled the bolt.

Quoted: First, oh noes my shoulder, K98s are brutal I actually yelled at the TV the first time I saw the K98. He went looking for a sniper rifle and had his pick of anything in the (supposedly well stocked) warehouse, and he picked an f-ing K98?! It made for about 2 interesting lines of dialogue from the fake faced dude in the last episode, but COME ON! The other thing that bothers me, not just about THIS show, is that all the main characters are one-handed-pistol-wielding-crack-shots on fast moving canon fodder vamps (How many one-handed headshots in the scene in the power substation?), but when they have a more major baddie (Momma Vamp) standing still all they can manage to do is wing her?! |

Exactly. At first I thought it was a Mosin. I was spraying the TV with Cheeto spittle in righteous indignation. |
