Looks like Erika will be at least a Cat 1 when she touches down somewhere in South Florida. If you're not already prepared, do it now. The masses will be hitting the stores within the next two days. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/storm_graphics/AT05/refresh/AL0515W5_NL+gif/115459W5_NL_sm.gif I was here 23 years ago when this Cat 5 monster hit our shores and kicked serious ass. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/9a/HurricaneAndrew.jpg I remember as a young kid from the northeast flying over Florida after Andrew rolled through. It was a sea of blue tarps where roofs once were. It looks like Erica won't be anything like that but get ready for the worst just in case. |

I don't think it would be the first time one crossed the peninsula and came ashore again in the Panhandle. Quoted:

Subscribed. We are way overdue for one, unfortunately. I don't think it would be the first time one crossed the peninsula and came ashore again in the Panhandle. Nope. Sure wouldn't. |

Real men go to Lake Okeechobee and hunt wild hogs in the hurricanes! Was that a wild pig or did a tree limb just fall? Is that my separated hunting partner yelling for help or just the wind howling? Who's in? BTW, I like this page too: |

Hopefully this Erika chick stays in Florida. The 10 year aniverssary of Rita is only a few weeks away. Don't need another one. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile The 10 year anniversary of Katrina Hitting NOLA is this weekend. A cat. 1 hurricane tracking across south Florida and into the gulf. What could possibly happen? |

Quoted: Some of the models get 'interesting' as she approaches Florida. I'm not assuming she'll be a CAT-1. http://derecho.math.uwm.edu/models/al052015_inten.png Quoted: Quoted: Cat 1? Phhhht. For anybody on the west coast - it looks like Monday night is our ETA. Your tides will be different, but here are mine: High tide is 2:08 p.m. on Monday (+3.1’) with a low tide at 9:09 p.m. (+0.8’). The next high tide is 2:22 a.m. Tuesday with +2.7’. That means the storm should hit SWFL at low tide which is good news. Of course, surge should be minimal with it coming from the land side.
Now is the time to check your gas, water and other supplies! The masses haven't yet woken up. I was able to get several hundred gallons of diesel delivered for the boat and a few hundred gallons of propane delivered for my inground tank this week. This has also motivated me to finally take down that big tree sitting right next to my dock |

I saw this but where are we on the scale (what hour are we in)? Quoted:

I wished they would have spelled the name right, Air Wrecka not Erica.
It looks like Hispaniola will be getting some needed rain. It has to be one of the easiest names on the planet to spell and or pronounce, and you would be suprised how some people wreck this absolutely wonderful name *lol* |

This is my fault. Last time I lived in south Florida we got hit by four hurricanes. I leave for ten years and nothing, I moved back down two months ago and it's headed right for me.
Last time I was taking flying lessons and it trashed the airport and I gave up for ten years. I'm down here getting my commercial license. Son of a bitch. |

Hopefully it stays that way. And even a Cat 1 can fuck up an area that hasn't had to deal with hurricane weather in several years. Quoted:

Been through more of them than I can even name. The ones that stick in recent memory are Ike, Gustav, Rita, Katrina. There's been plenty more. I don't begin to even give half a fuck until it's a category 3. |

I've never experienced anything more than tropical storm Debbie back in 2012, and I only caught the tail end of her. |
