Our four year old plays Tball. Nothing special just the regular local league.

They had a game  Monday, practice Tuesday, game Thursday, game Friday , game Saturday, game today, practice tommorow and game Tuesday. Not sure on games on practice after that but games or practice six days a week seems pretty extreme for a four year old.

Our 11 year old plays AA ball and they don't ever do more than three days a week. If they have three games a week they don't even practice that week. If they have two games they practice one day if they have one game they practice two days.

It kind of seems like a point of diminishing returns at this age. Three kids (not mine) were crying today and didn't even want to bat because I think they are getting burnt out.

That does sound a bit intense for that age.  Are some of them make-up games for rained out ones earlier in the year?  I remember my daughter's softball cramming them all in at the end of the season like that.  ETA:  And usually no practice if they're having that many games...

No none of these are make up games. The season just started last week.

Fuck that noise!

My 3 year old did spring ball this year. 1 practice a week for 3 weeks leading up to the season. 1 game a week, practice to be determined based on how late the game was scheduled. 2 games in the same week (make up for rained out games) equals no practice.

They are 3-4 tee ballers, not high school athletes.

My oldest played 2 years of t ball.  After enduring the inhumane torture of Tball games none of my other sons played.  Just taught them at home until they could play coach pitch. The 1st year of kid pitch also sucks when there are crappy pitchers and the game is walk after walk.

That is way to much for that age group.

My two oldest son's played T-Ball and then coach pitch. They hated it because of the rules our town plays, as did my wife and I. After 2 seasons they quit, never to play again.

On Wednesday, my youngest son, 10 years old, starts his first year of baseball. 4 practices over 2 weeks, then 18 games from mid August until the end of October.

The league this time plays only official rules.

When my boys were 3 and 4 they played T ball.  They had practice 3 times a week and at least 1 game on the weekend.  Usually a couple games a weekend though.  I thought that was too much time for that age group.  The first tournament they had, the coaches got into a fight, the cops were called, and both teams set in the dugout for almost 2 hours waiting on the cops to show up.  I grabbed my boys and left and we didn't go back.

I don't see what the point is of having it 6 times a week

That is excessive.

This. When my kids were younger and playing rec department ball the wife and I never missed a practice or game, my son was on a team that practiced or played a game five days a week, he was in his early teens, it paid off they were city champions every season.

One of my favorite parts of it all was going over and watching the T-Ball games, you had about 15 kids on the field at a time, they didn't keep score, and the kids had an absolute ball, towards the end of the season a few of them would start to actually play, but mostly they just chased balls or picked daisies and had a good time.

Seems a little excessive....but not as bad as sitting next to those parents of future major leaugers...

My four year old Practiced twice a week, and games were twice a week.
No practice after the games started.  He just had his last game Friday.

Your son's schedule is a little demanding for a four year old.

The time to cultivate skills is now. Four may even be a year too late. The coaches of select teams and travel teams are already searching for future talent. The tball coaches have been instructed to get them ready for the grind of tournaments.

Just kidding, but there are people, especially in girl's softball, that believe this.

lol kids sports.

Newsflash, if your kid has to play any sport that much at a young age just to stay competitive, then they don't have enough raw talent to make it to Div I much less the majors.

Op your t ball league is crazy.

They don't even keep score here.
Two innings, everyone bats twice and we go home.

I'd start to worry if the league practice guidelines required more than 25 pushups and 10 laps around the field.

Yeah, your kid's schedule is nuts.

That's what they do here also. At that age, it's about just being outside and having fun while learning how to work as a team.

Those coaches have a lot to learn about kid's attention spans.

My kids team had to run a few times because they were not paying attention.
The problem was they had more fun running.
