Howdy!

I've been thinking about getting solar panels installed on my roof, I'm wondering if any of you have anything I should be wary of or what i should expect.

I haven't had a company come give me a quote yet, I'll give you some details though:

Approx 1000-2000 kilowatt hours per month
South facing roof, gets sun from 8am to sundown.
Live in sunny NV, 300+ days of sun per year on average
House built in 1951
Electric bill is higher in winter when I use electric heat (cheaper than oil for our home)

Our home improvement fund won't have enough to pay for the system outright as of now, so I'd have to get a loan of some sort to pay for it.  I've read of people doing home equity loans(I'm not too sure how those even work!), solar power loans, etc to pay.  I do not want to lease a system.

Any thoughts? Experience?  Recommendations for companies? DIY options?
