Hit up candle power forums.  There some dudes who sling those over there, or you can find the vials and make your own.  If you use them, make sure to drop the coin on the uv optical adhesive that dries under uv.  It dries clear, all epoxy yellow with age.

Yeah I guess due to tritium being radioactive our laws are pretty strict on how it is sold. I haven't dealt with buying tritium for a few years so I really don't remember what the laws are anymore though.

But if you need any tritium follow the links I posted above and search that forum a little bit and you will probably find what you seek.

Do you have night sights on your carry gun?

From what I read a few years ago the tritium vials are really safe. You just don't want to breathe in the gas if you break a vial.

Beta doesn't penetrate the glass (from the inside). I seriously doubt I could even detect the presence of the tritium with the (crappy, old, but functional) geiger counters I have access to.

I concur; have bought many from him the past few years. The are pretty nice and come assembled with the tritium.

They are shipped from Singapore in a sealed up instant coffee packet of some sort. First time I got one I was like I've been ripped off and almost tossed it out.

Back when I was buying and customizing high end flashlights I broke a few vials and I'm still alive.

I want to order some of those yellow disks of uranium, stick it in a lead box labeled yellow cake uranium, and in the radiation warning put "Will strip the paint off your house and give you a permanent orange afro".

ETA: Awe they used to sell pressed disks of uranium ore that had a yellow color.

No problem. If you decide to get one let us know what you decided on. You have me thinking about buying another one. I had a pretty cool one that I gave to a friend that helped me move a couple of years ago. He was fascinated by the thing.

don't know why.  Tritium is a beta emitter, and beta is only a risk if you ingest an emitter of it.

Your radiation safety officer is an imbecile. The beta radiation from H3, tritium, is so weak, it can't escape the glass capsule it's in.

Beyond that the low energy beta radiation can only travel about 2 feet in the air. Up close, a piece of paper will stop the beta radiation completely.

It is so low energy, it's difficult to detect without special equipment.

Your 'radiation safety officer' should know that. Tape one of the glow capsules to the underside of his chair, and then show it to him months later.
