In GD (I know). If a LE agency has a machinegun purchased PRIOR to 1984 can it be sold and transferred to an individual?

The gun has to be on a Form 4, most law enforcement guns were transferred on Form 10's and are not transferable to individuals.  It is worth checking, if the department will look into it.  There are a few transferables out there in law enforcement hands.

Sounds like a long shot but I located a MP5 bought in the late seventies collecting dust in our Armory.

If firearms were transferred to a PD on a tax free Form 5, they can be transferred to an individual on a tax free Form 5.
