First of all I want to send my condolences to the families of the men that died and to thank them for their loved ones that served
Secondly...we all saw the sign on the door that said "No Firearms". The sign worked...I guess. The Radical Islamic asshole obeyed the sign...he stayed outside and shot thru the glass. I couldn't help but point out the irony. One can hope after this they will start letting our military carry guns they were trained to use in the first place! |

Why do so many people think that everyone in the military is trained to use a firearm? Most Marines are basically trained with a M-16 and shoot once/year. A recruiter of lower rank (Sgt) would most likely have never received the chance to qualify with the M9. Even the SNCOs most likely don't qual the entire 3 year tour on recruiting duty. Do people want armed military walking around on the streets 24/7? Arfcom alone would shit itself, let alone the people crying "police state". Go ahead and research what the AF and Navy basic qualifications are, and how well they are trained. Most people in the military are NOT gun people that have CWPs. That being said, I 100% support those in uniform with a CWP to carry while on recruiting duty while in uniform. |

Too early to crack jokes about the sticker. I hate to say it but I think this is one of those instances where guns in the Recruiting office wouldn't have saved those Marines. Maybe stopped him before cops killed him but the initial volley wouldn't have been stopped. I know...he already attacked one location, the second would have time to prepare yada yada yada....but no, they didn't have sufficient warning.
Even if hell froze over and the .mil decided to allow weapons in Recruiting offices there's no way in hell they'd let them walk around a strip mall armed. The guns would be locked up. Imagine the PR nightmare of liberal mom's, or even regular moms who haven't been exposed to guns, being too afraid to let their kids anywhere near a Recruiting office just because they know guns are there. The fact the Recruiters might be well trained would be irrelevant. When I enlisted I did it all on my own but many of the other 'cruits I saw in the Recruiting Center had a parent with them. My mother did have to show up for part of it - I was only 17 so she had to sign some papers and bring in her divorce decree and court documents showing she had full custody, so sometimes parental involvement is unavoidable. Code Pink and the Brady Bunch and all Bloomberg's different anti-gun groups would protest. Some stupid asswipes would inevitably start breaking into Recruiting offices looking for guns. Most Recruiting offices aren't exactly secure and considering the extreme security measures taken to safeguard guns on an installation they just couldn't provide that level of security in an office that's all windows and cubes. And of course it would mean Obama and his retarded cronies would have to acknowledge radical Islam is a threat and that just ain't gonna happen. He's more concerned with getting transtesticles into the military than protecting our grunts, squids, zoomies, gyrenes, and puddle pirates It needs to happen. I want them to be able to protect themselves. It's not like this hasn't happened before, a soldier was killed at a Recruiting station in Arkansas 5 or 6 years ago, but even if they did I don't think they'd let them carry on their person. It doesn't fit their agenda and to Obama and his ilke that's all that matters. Just my own little stream of thought. Obama doesn't give a fuck about our servicemen and it'd be almost impossible to keep them secure. Recruiters go home at night, 99.9% don't have access to an arms rooms and if policies are the same as 20+ years ago bringing a service weapon into a POV or home is a court martial offense. I'm not advocating for any of the bullshit above, just recognizing the realities of how everybody would react. Fucked up situation all around. TL;DR? I just don't think it'll happen |
