I don't practice mag dumps with my ar's bit wanted to play a little firing rapid groups with my cmc flat 3.5. I know the accuracy is silly in this vid but I was just trying to see how fast my brain and finger could do it. my only tool is my phone so if someone can help me get an accurate rpm count I would appreciate it. I need a baseline to see if I improve over time. Thanks

How many rounds were fired?  Most cell phone videos don't have good enough audio to count the audio spikes and see the rounds fired.

I normally use AVS audio editor and look at the time between spikes, it should look something like this:

6 shots, I used the built in editor on my phone and chopped it from the first to last shot. It said .02 minutes , I don't trust any electronic device that after a year together still thinks I'm trying to spell duck.

If youre looking for split time and it toook .02min for 6 shots first peek to last peek, we can convert to seconds =1.2 seconds.  Then divide by 5 (first shot doesn't count, were looking for how long it takes to get the next shot off) and were looking at .24 splits.

Definitely some room for improvement.  I would consider .14 or better to be pretty good.  Miculek does about .1, which is incredibly fast.

That's what I needed , I know the trigger can do better. I've always chosen accuracy over speed but there's no time like the present to meld the two. Thanks for the results.

Many of the timers won't read splits under .1.  I would still like to try one.

I've used the sound method to caculate this rifle at 977 RPM

and again at right around 1000 RPM

The timers are much easier to use for most people though.

Also, if your groups are too good, speed up. If your groups are to big, slow down.

Jeez, I suck. A 23 minute split on my double tap.

Sooooo. I downloaded the avs, great idea. I changed the visual to envelope to get rid of the bouncy echo but measured the peaks the same in both modes. Shortest peak to peak was .147 longest was .151. I'm calling that a win.

The cmc flat 3.5, not without some shortfalls. But I'm glad I bought it instead of dicking with another mil trigger. Couldn't afford a Giselle, didn't want a mega. So I settled with what was available locally. I think I can live with it.
