I have gotten more out of little crap like that than I ever did with something I thought was gonna be real big. |

Meh, people do stupid things under extreme(to her) stress. How she was able to do that in a jail for a simple assault charge? They have a responsibility to keep her from harm while she is under their control, they failed. Civil suit? yep. Criminal charges? maybe.
OP, how many times have you been arrested or been in jail? Just want to know if you a SME in this area. |

I've been involved in multiple jail deaths over the years. It sucks. When your job is to keep your prisoners safe and under control then one goes and hangs their self or something, it gets personal. And the investigation isn't some kind of white wash. They crawl up every orifice looking for indications that it's anything but what it appears to be. The really sad part is most jailers are quite sympathetic to a truly suicidal inmate. They'll do about anything to keep them from doing it. All they have to do is even hint at it and we're all over it. They only sucky part for them is being put in an oven mitt until we get a mental health evaluation for them. And even then we try to make it as comfortable as possible. The family almost never sees it that way. |
