Anyone use Armscore Plus through the NRA? How are prices and coverage.....
Also what are some other options besides just the basic HOI |

I've had a policy with these guys for a few years now -
http://collectinsure.com/what-we-insure/guns-knives-accessories Reasonable rates and rules. I haven't had to make a claim, but I have heard good stories from people who have done so. Just make sure you are clear on what is covered and what is not - for instance your everyday carry gun may not be covered but transporting guns to the range or hunting camp will be covered. |

Do they require a list for their record, serial #s, recipes or appraisals? |

No, but they do ask how are you going to prove ownership, etc., if you have to file a claim, take pictures with serial #'s, store safely so if you need to file a claim you are GTG. |

Do they require a list for their record, serial #s, recipes or appraisals? From the website... "Unlike homeowners insurance, we do not require you to inventory all the separate items in your collection or pay to have them appraised. Only individual items or sets valued at $5000 or more will need to be scheduled. (You are, however, responsible for maintaining records of your collection for insurance purposes.) " |

Collect Insure is real good to deal with, call or email, no sales pressure shit, you fill out a form, do you own a safe, do you have deadbolts, do you have an alarm, etc., no specific questions, just general questions, you tell them how much insurance you want, you get a price and pay with credit card, policy comes in mail and you have a week or so to cancel if you want/need to.
Like all insurance you see disclaimers but they are all reasonable, like we won't cover your shit at a commercial gun show table or if you have it on loan to a friend, etc. |

Armscore advertises $65/yr for $6500 in coverage. |

I shopped around, several were close and a couple higher, I remember collectinsure being one of the more competitive rates, best to call and get their quote as I am sure zip code (crime rate), amount of coverage needed, and other factors come into play. |

I've been in the Multi-line Insurance business for 30+ years. Most Homeowner policies have no dollar limit for firearms under your personal property coverage - except for theft which is usually limited to $5,000 dollars. Now, I could have added a scheduled rider to my Homeowners policy, but I would have to itemize and list everything, and I really didn't want to share that information with my Insurer. So when I shopped for the extra protection, there were three primary aspects that I looked at: 1. How much is covered? (dollar limit) 2. What perils does the policy cover? (Fire, theft, tornado/wind, water damage, etc...) 3. What is the settlement basis? - Actual Cash Value or Replacement Cost. I also wanted to know if the policy would cover my mounts, optics, and accessories as part of the policy. After breaking down policies from three different companies, I bought my policy through Eastern Insurance. I pay $125 dollars per year for $30,000 dollars of blanket coverage. (I didn't have to itemize. However, if you need more than $30,000 dollars of coverage, you'll have to itemize. The Eastern Policy offered the broadest number of perils covered. They covered on a full replacement cost basis, and covered my mounts, scopes and accessories. Surprisingly, it was also the least expensive of the three. Here's the contact info. The guy is easy to work with. Fill out and e-mail a questionaire, he'll send you quotes and brochures back, and you can call him with a credit card and pay over the phone. BTW... I have nothing to do with these guys. I'm just an Insurance man who was shopping for insurance himself, found a good plan, and am passing it on to my Afrcom friends. |

is this per month or per some sort of term? Quoted:

I just did a mock quote. For $30,000 coverage, its quoting me a $278 premium. is this per month or per some sort of term? That sounds like an annual premium, similar to collectinsure annual costs. |

| With CollectInsure I filled out my application, and said I'd get an email back. I never did. (Ended up being something with their IT system and a new server!? ) ANYWAYS- they called after a few days and we talked. Rates were MUCH better than going through my insurance agent, who would have required itemized inventory for any item over $2,500 and the rider had a cap of like $60,000. |

Quoted: USAA said my firearms are covered under my homeowners insurance. Do I need a separate one just for firearms? There are limitations for certain events (perhaps $2000 for theft) and collectible value is not factored in. I have a substantial policy with Collect Insure for art and guns. It's worth the money. |

This is who you need to contact. I have been with them for years now and they have been great! $126 a year for $40k blanket coverage if your an NRA member. No itemizing or anything, just simple straight forward coverage. Give Jack a call. He's a great guy! Here is the website ETA: Other than them being recommended to my from AR15.com and purchasing a policy, I have no affiliation. But I have been more than happy! |

USAA said my firearms are covered under my homeowners insurance. Do I need a separate one just for firearms? Ask details. As I posted above, my agent said they could add a rider for firearms- and once she got into the nitty-gritty, I would be paying for basically nothing of use. |
