Why does the microwave destroy coffee and make it taste like crap?

It can sit on the burner for an hour and be fine, but nuke it for 20 seconds and it's pure garbage.  I find this vexing.

I don't know about coffee, but microwaving a potato creates a type of sugar thst does not exist in baked ones. (I hate nuked potatoes, and people always told me "there was no difference").

Maybe the microwaves do something to the essential oils thst give coffee its flavor.

Interesting.  Just really strange to me that it gets such a sharp burnt flavor so quickly

It's just cold coffee that sat in the pot or cup until it got cold and then rewarmed.  I don't think the microwave did anything to it but warm up stale ass.

Still has the required nutrients that get you through the day though.

I'm a coffee geek and I'll warm up my last mug if I'm futzing around, in the microwave and I don't think that it imparts any additional flavors, but if I pop popcorn in my microwave, it'll smell for a while afterwards and maybe some of those odors get transferred to your aromatic cup of Joe?

Mostly, I'll just put my carafe on the electric burner and set it to low and I'm fine.
