Dad has a rental house in another town.
House is heated by a hydronic gas furnace and a fireplace insert. The living room is cooled by a single zone mini-split that is at least 13 years old. Last July, that mini split stopped working because of a coolant leak. A local company topped off the R22 and replaced some small parts, and it has worked until now. Total cost was just under $1,000 for diagnostics, repair, parts and refrigerant. It's currently freezing up, which I believe is due to low refrigerant pressure. I'd like to recommend replacing the unit with a new one rather than nursing this one along. Questions: 1) What can I expect to spend on a new unit in Spokane, WA? 2) Are there any ways to differentiate between installers? 3) Is there a preferred brand? 4) Do I need to specify R410A? Anything else? |
