Believed to be an unsuccessful suicide attempt. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=31b_1435538324#comment_page=1 |

Let's face it, any number of bad puns would would be doable here, but I don't see any reason to blast this guy for a failed suicide attempt. If that's truly what happened here he deserves some compassion for being so blinded to the joys that life has to offer to the point that death sounded better. I have never walked a mile in his shoes so I can't judge him for his actions, but he'll probably never get to see a brighter day or smell the top of a baby's head or taste something so good it curls his toes. That's more than enough punishment for trying to kill himself.
If he survived, I hope that he can find some peace from whatever he was trying to get away from. And if he did not survive then I hope he found peace in death. I personally would not want to live that way. |

FWIW, I agree with your sentiment. |

Something is really wrong with a human being that cannot see tragic as simply that without having to mock it or make entertainment at the expense of the one suffering. There are some people that respond to tragic situations on a daily basis for a living. If they viewed every single tragic call as a tragedy they'd end up doing what this guy on the table here was trying to do. |

Fix or try to fix until there is more support and resources available. Worst are kids. |

I know a guy who did that. Everything between his eyes and lower jaw is reconstructed and just a big crater in the middle of his face. Must be more common than one would think. Unless you and I know the same fellow, which is possible, I guess. There is a guy around here in a similar condition from a suicide attempt. He had an open hole for several years in between his nasal cavity and mouth. They have now closed it with reconstructive surgery; he still looks like hell, but at least he doesn't send children screaming away. I'm sure these guys regret their decision to pull a trigger over and over every day. Damn. |

Nothing worse than working on a fucked up kid with a mom screaming in your ear and not enough crew on scene to spare a guy to remove her. Edit: and when you run two man crews and usually no other apparatus responding to med calls you cam t really spare shit even on the bullshit calls.

glad I did not click it
It is not all that uncommon from what I have heard in the past to fuck up shooting yourself in the head. I shoot all my deer in the head and sometimes it takes a second or third shot. the good thing is that it usually knocks them down and if they raise their head you shoot again. |

Seen things like this before. Most of the time they live......and they thought life sucked before! I only get the dead ones but I've seen plenty that shot themselves multiple times before the job was done. One old man empty a 22s into his mouth, reloaded, then put the rest into his temple. Daniel |

He was trying to be considerate and did it on his front lawn so as not to make a mess in the house, which proved to be his undoing---after blowing off his face, he was trying to reload the shotgun and finish the job when his neighbor, a 70 year old woman who had been tending her garden, ran over and fought the gun away from him. He does have a new found appreciation for life, even if he is rather drastically deformed now. |
| Way back when I worked in a hospital. I'm having lunch with my coworkers and in walks a 13 year old without a face. Among all the women saying "Oh that poor boy" "So sad", etc my buddy says "He thought he's such a failure that suicide is the only way out. I guess he proved it to himself." |
