[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How fun is .22lr? (windshield test) (Page 1 of 2)
Posted: 6/28/2015 12:21:59 PM EDT
It's fairly well known, I think, that .22lr will go through a windshield, but I was curious how much energy it had left over after passing through the windshield. We shoot .22lr through a windshield into water jugs to find out. Also, some slow mo plinking.

.22 is funnest when shooting reactive trgets, paper targets not so much. This And it was fun at .03c a round but not at all at .20c+ If you can't find .22 ammo for less than $.20+ per round, you're not even trying. That's more than peak neckbeard price last year, by a large factor. When the sidewalks get icey here at the house I pour .22 ammo on the ground instead of rock salt to make it less slippery. Its that cheap, and doesn't cause rust. |

I finally found a 50rd box of 22 at a store $14.99 and a 4 box limit. These prices make shooting less fun. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Last time I bought Federal 50 round boxes from Academy they were $1.69 a box. I really hope your post was a typo. ETA :This was pre Sandy Hook /Neckbeard Era / Panic of the week prices. I simply refuse to pay artificially inflated prices. |

| I received my Kidd Supergrade that I had ordered before Sandy Hook just after Sandy Hook. Haven't got to shoot it much. As far as stopping in occasionally at any of the local places that sell 22 ammo to purchase said ammo, forget about it. It hasn't been there unless you're willing to spend more than 10 cents per round. I've found the occasional reasonable price on crap ammo, but it's been very infrequently. |

I enjoy shooting suppressed 22 more than anything center fired. Poll is accurate. Oh yeah. Need to get me a new .22lr silencer, though. Those dickbags at Gemtech hung me out to dry with the Outback II. Now that I know they don't stand behind their product I don't really want to shoot it because I don't want to fill it up. |

You can send it in and have them convert it to monocore. But that involves giving the company you're pissed at more money, so....

I remember growing up, me and my dad would get 2 boxes of ammo whenever we could, it was usually .22lr, and 5.56
We still have a shit ton of .22, but we are saving it, since there is no easy way to replace what we shoot Id rather spend more money on ammo that i actually have fun shooting, and can easily stock back up on, like .30 carbine and 5.56 It really sucks when you are at the range and you see a dad tell his son that they can't shoot the kids 10/22 because they dont have anymore ammo |

The dad is feeding the kid a line of BS because he's neckbearding the stuff or too lazy to go find it. I've acquired about 5k rounds since Sandy hook and didn't pay insane price/round either. |

If they'll convert it without charging more than a new can (minus stamp), I'll probably do it. |

I've been shooting a lot of single shot match rifles lately. This Parker-Hale CM-2 is a ton of fun what with the large Martini action plus I can shoot it with a moderator. You don't blast through the ammo fort near as fast with match rifles. http://oi59.tinypic.com/353edqe.jpg That said I found me a vintage Federal Ordnance under-folder 10-22 stock for a very reasonable price that I built out. I guess the ammo fort will be a bit diminished with this one. I have a threaded 16" taper barrel coming for it.
http://oi57.tinypic.com/xfom5l.jpg http://oi61.tinypic.com/11gioia.jpg So, you have, what, a grand total of 15$ in those pics?

At the Cabela's in Columbus, Ohio, there's too much .22. Not the greatest prices, but $21 for 333 rounds isn't a deal breaker. I'm serious. The shelves were filled with everything from Match .22 to low end stuff. |
