Bought a 2005 Ford focus with salvage title car about 2 years ago. Everything was fixed and i don't know what all was replaced. But i believe it was also a front accident.
Daughter was driving it tonight and hit a deer front end is pushed back to the engine. She is fine and just scared that her car is gone and mom is going to drop her from our policy and make her get her own policy.
I have called insurance and started the claim they told me that i do have comprehensive coverage with zero deductible.
What kind of problem will I have with the total loss title if they total it out?

Everything on the car worked fine.

I just got done replace the fuel pump, egr valve and few other things last weekend.

If it is total how do I find a value on it since it has a salvage title?

going thru Bluebook prices private party is $3200

Tell the ins co. you want the car back with a "Clean Title"

The payout will be less than a total title but if you plan on keeping the car it's a win.

All ready has a salvage title.

Depends on the state and carrier .  Some companies would just pay you for the acv, some would reduce by a percentage (say 40-60% of value)  In other states companies can just pay transportation value.  That means the carrier will say, "The vehicle was already a total loss.  It had no inherent value other than salvage.  The accident did nothing more than reduce the salvage value."  For example:  Your car is valued at $3000.  A prior total loss reduces that value by 60%.  Your car is now worth $1200.  It will still salvage for $400..  The accident reduced the salvage value by around  $800.  You will get offered somewhere between $500-$800 as a settlement.

Just got back from agents office he said they will knock some of but not alot since it was fixed from the first accident.
Book value is $3300 private and $4900 dealer can't check with salvage
title, He said have to wait till the adjuster looks at it. Then will
have to go from there.

But it is covered with zero deductible since it is covered under the comprehensive.

Bank said to check with the tax office and see what value is placed on it.
I looked at the registration and the state says it has a appraisal value of $4200 and the registration is marked total loss claim.

They will not fix the car, you're going to get a check back.

You have a salvage car, so don't expect it to be any where near private party price as you can't properly compare the two with clear tites.

Also, you might get a bigger check, it's really just better to sit back and first see what you get before you panic.

Insurance company called today. It is total for the second time.

The offer $3500 and they keep the car or $2800 and i keep the car.

i am going to try and counter offer $3000 and I keep the car since we didn't request a rental car that our policy covers.

Damage is pretty much all cosmetic. Just unbolt hood and light and
radiator support and replace them and have safelite come out and replace
the windshield.

Figure less than 1500 to fix but think it will be closer to $1000.
Daughter will get most of what is left to use for her high school
graduation next year.

That actually is an exceptional offer for a salvage title car.
Insurance cos don't knowingly cover salvage title vehicles for physical damage (comp and/or collision), and many ask at application if a vehicle is salvage.

Once you settle, expect a letter dropping comp and/or collision on this veh.

So you're gonna try to negotiate for additional walking around money in addition to the $1800 profit you're already planning to pocket. And we wonder why adjusters can be dicks.

What is his labor worth to fix it?

If totaled, they [insurance] are paying out on the estimated value of the car BEFORE it was wrecked, not the cost to repair it because.................they are not repairing it.

Apparently about $600/hr as he describes it.  They are paying, but he wants more. That's the part that gets me.

I tried to get every dime I could the ONLY time I ever had an insurance company total out a car I drove. Got an extra grand for my time and as I see it, they still have made a metric shit ton of money off me over the years.

I bought the car back and sold it for another $1500 over what the insurance company paid off on it. Had three different yards fighting for it as the parts were in high demand and other then the front hit ][motor untouched]  the car was in perfect shape.

Reaching a settlement on a totaled vehicle is EXACTLY like selling one.

You're going to try to get the most for it, and the buyer is going to try to pay the least.

I am going to throw it out there since I am not asking for a rental car that my policy covers

Only going to try to round it up to $3000 and not going to try to hard.

Been with nationwide for almost 20 years. I know I have paid in way more than I ever claimed.

been paying $100-150 a month expect for the last 2 years and its been closer to $250 since we added a teenage driver.

I have roughly paid $30000 since we been with them and asking for $200 more isn't going to break them.

Talk to my local agent policy can be re written for the same coverage once it is fixed. Even if I want to put full coverage on it.

Plus rates wont change.
