OP here....No trolls in my neighborhood.
Real questions.... Samuse says that "Alternating ammo is fuckin' retarded." From such a statement I could logically deduce that he has the opinion that our military is retarded as they at times, as a matter of fact, alternate their ammo.....If so, why dont you go float down a swollen river there buddy..... TheHellBringer, I guess it is a little overkill, huh? Er_Mah_Gerd, what do you mean? sailmirage, you'd think so but it's only about 30lbs or so.... |
|
I meant that where the two cans meet they are doubles not alternating.
I'm not sure if people are talking about alternating mags of ammo, I think is more of alternating in the same mag. But I don't know. What I do know is... If I was pulled over and an officer seen that I don't think he would believe it wasn't for a "purpose". |

Alternating steal core and 55 gr fmj is silly. The mil tend to put tracers in every 3rd round which ideally would perform similiarly in balistics to the other rounds so u can see what your hitting at night. Your alternatng ammo is going to result in varrying poi. There is no benefit to doing that i can think of.
Next point why do you have some mags flipped over? To fit more in there? You are never going to use that many. They look like they would not be quick and easy to get out of there with how tightly you habe them packed in there. Maybe some magpulls or just fewer of them in there also look at how they are oriented in there you want to be able to grab them and insert them into your gun without having to flip them around. Are the cans secured somehow id hate to have those flopping around in the cab There is no reason to download the mags to 28 Th mags should be fine in the car but keeping ammo in a car with hugely varrying temps/humidity and having it jossled all the time isnt the best way to store it im sure the mil puts their ammo through worse but i wouldnt do it personally |

There are some damn good recent comments.
Thx to those who answered. Going to have to change a few things here. Never once considered the "poi" issue with regards to projectile weight....Good point, I'll correct this issue. Er_Mah_Gerd, I understand your point here. However, these ammo boxes will not be viewable as they will be covered with the veil that you see in the pic. More importantly, a LEO would be hard pressed to definitively determine any "purpose". With that being said since I'm not breaking the law, and havent broken any laws then it really wouldnt matter what he "thinks" it would be for.....At least that's my take on it.... Anyways, I havent decided if I'll proceed with the project or not. If I do all I need to do is secure the ammo cans so they dont go "a-flying" in the event of a collision. Someone brought up the concern about things flying around inside the cab of the truck. Well enough rambling..... |

So you're carrying 1120 rounds of 5.56 with you in your truck at all times. You're surely prepared for something...just not sure what you can run into on an average day which would need anywhere near that many rounds.
That being said, it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I'd personally find a way to pack them in there so you can close the ammo cans, and store them elsewhere. The chances of needing that much ammo available while in the driver's seat is nill. You're more likely to need to get out of your vehicle and use it as cover/concealment before you've finished firing 2 or 3 magazines. You'll appreciate the ability to close the cans and carry them when the time comes. I'd focus on an invisible storage solution which gives immediate access to 2-4 magazines, and I'd keep the rest elsewhere, sealed up and ready to leave the vehicle with you. |

No ranger pulls on the mags? How fast can you pull one out, if you're in a firefight and under stress? Gonna dump over the can and shake a few out? Just an observation.
And definitely have some sort of retention system for those. You're more likely to be in a bad car wreck that will make those suckers fly, than engage in a multiple hour long firefight. |

If LE even THINKS they have caught so much as a glimpse of your truck stash I predict you will have a VERY interesting day and the seizure of your mags and ammo. until they "sort it all out". Good luck getting your stuff back. If you're serious about carrying a case of ammo. in the vehicle then I'd suggest going to a bigger ammo. can and using bandoliers to make things a little more portable. Also might move the location of the mounting point of the can in case of future encounters with LE to save yourself some headaches (they can't claim it's in your immediate control if located in the back) , a lid for the can might be a good idea along with a lock to secure it when you're away from the vehicle for awhile. |

Is OP related to mbp9?
209 rounds accessible from driver's seat |
|
OP what you've done here is very unwise. Not only do you have a ridiculous amount of ammo in your truck but you also have object that will do some serious damage if an accident were to occur. You might be better off with something that holds maybe 5 or 6 mags.
I can also foresee an unfriendly cop finding all that in a search and giving you a really hard time. So don't do anything that would entail a legal search. |

LOL, no you're wrong as two boys fucking in church alternating sucking off the pastor while he gives a Sunday sermon. We NEVER load a our M4 mags that way. IIRC belt feds are 4rnds of ball and 1 tracer. <ETA> LOL well fuck see the above picture for an example from a M249. And OP...put down the crack pipe, and resume taking your normally prescribed dosage of behavioral health medication. If you are still on your current dosage call your psychiatric care provider and have them up the dosage. The last person I know with paranoid delusions that someone was out to get them and they needed to be prepared at all times is now getting treated at a psychiatric hospital in British Columbia after getting arrested at a traffic stop for lying to border patrol and illegally bringing a handgun into Canada. |
