I have a 10/100 network behind a router/gateway connecting multiple PCs to a wideband internet connection. Several friends and family members have laptop computers and use wireless networks so I thought I would add a wireless router to make internet access easier when they visit.

The question is: will the people with Apple laptops be able to use the wireless connection? They can connect with a cable so I would think the wireless would work too. Is there anything special you have to do to make it work? California people are just a lot of extra trouble.

If they have the right card in their laptops it should work.  Wi-fi is wi-fi.  You probably want to get an Wireless Access Point instead of a router.  Sounds like  you already have the router.  I would recommend the access points with extra ethernet ports to expand your plug in network at the same time.  Some wireless routers have switches to let you turn off the routing function and it just becomes an access point.  Both are about the same price.

Yes.... Apple's 'Airport' wireless LAN system is 802.11b (aka 'WiFi')...

You just need a wireless AP plugged into your LAN somewhere, and it will all work...
