Eventually, the blade release lever on the side broke on them and he just tossed them. After I grew up and moved out, in the early 1980's, he started giving some of his bring back stuff away. I about blew a gasket when he told me what he had given away. He didn't understand why I was so saddened, he didn't think it was worth much, and didn't think I was interested in his "old things." (He wouldn't let me touch it as a kid because he didn't want me breaking anything.) It was about this point I had to explain to him I wanted to know about everything he had experienced, the stuff he wouldn't tell me about when I asked him when I was much younger. I have a fallschirmjager helmet he brought back, along with the pistols and a few other items. He gave away several things I would have loved to have back. Dad finally started telling me his stories too. Nothing too gory, but enough to understand what he did. |

I have one.
I had seen them at gun shows for years and I always kinda wanted one. Then I ended up getting sucked into the classic marketing ploy used against gun owners. I was standing at a table (this was like 10 years ago) and the guy said.................."You know these are about to be banned". And I instantly bought one. I think it is kinda cool. I never actually carried it as an every day knife. I never intended to. It's just another one of those things that I bought, and have no real use for. It sits in my gun safe with all the other knives I bought that I have no real use for. First world problem. |
