The fact that he always cared about Syd and tried to help him out speaks volumes. Quoted:

Incredible. Such a humble man for what he has done for the music industry over the years. No one compares. The fact that he always cared about Syd and tried to help him out speaks volumes. There ya go. ^^^^ |

that kind of phrasing is how i realized i could never play lead guitar. it's just... you never want it to end. When I first started taking guitar lessons my teacher said this about Gilmour "He does not waste a single note." The more I learned and listened, the more I thought "yeah, pretty much" |

I always felt like he was playing a violin. His perfect phrasing and intonation, his signature pre-bends, and the emotion he lets flow through the guitar - nobody does it better. He is truly a master of the instrument. I wanted to say this but I couldn't have said it so eloquently. Some of my favorite guitar solos are from Pink Floyd. |

His feel, tone and tasteful playing are just about unmatched.
He can say more with 10 notes than a shred guy can with hundreds and can write the songs then sing them on top of it. His playing is more of a singing voice that is telling a story or having a conversation with you. Still one of my favorites |
Thanks for posting this, just got around to watching the whole thing. Glad it included a couple of his modern classics - I really like 'Coming Back to Life' and 'Sorrow.' I used to try to play 'Sorrow' when I had a Strat. Nobody works the bends and the wammy better than DG.

Man, that is perfectly said! |

He is truly a master of the instrument. Absolutely. Each one of his songs opens up a different world inside my imagination. I hear him play and I know exactly what it's like to be in that place, complete with the way the place looks, how it smells, how it feels to be there. I'm really not sure how to explain it, but he's the only one whose playing does that to me. One of the few artists whom you can put on, turn out the lights, and just be transported somewhere. Incredible musician. |

Sitting at the firehouse, on the back side of a 24hr tour. Then I see the thread and knew it was something special. Guitar brilliance has a name and its David Gilmore. Thanks OP Most welcome. I'll say that he's only one of two guitar players that can actually bring a tear to my eye from the feeling, the soul, that he sends out through his fingers. |
