One of the best decisions of my life, just wish id done it right after my last kid 17 years ago.  Post op pain was nothing at all, not that im a badass or anything, maybe i had a great doc

Surgery itself not a big deal. Recovery can vary, mine wasn't horrible. You'll be tender for a few days.

Schedule it for a Friday during football season if you can.

Had mine done at 57 because I married a younger woman.  Wish I had done it long ago.  Peace of mind for the wifey and quite frankly, I don't smell as bad.

Relax, my back hurt more than my balls because I was so tensed up about it.  Nothing to worry about unless he runs out of Novocaine like he did on mine.

Gave my wife one for her 40th birthday.

Worth the slight discomfort.  I have felt worse after leaving the dentist.

After that ordeal, I got her a convertible for her next birthday.

When I got my vasectomy, I watched the whole procedure... They pull a little cutain thing in front of your crotch so you can't see what's going on, I moved it back out of the way... the Doctor told me I was the "tuffest MFer" that he "has ever performed that surgery on"... he said he had "never had a guy out of hundreds of procedures actually want to watch."

Had mine done before a lot of you here were born.
Youngest turned two, so SIDS wasn't a concern any longer.  We wanted only two, so I had mine done on a Friday morning in late 1980 early 1981.  I was my doc's third vasectomy.

Unfortunately, I was working 2nd shift and figured, as a supervisor, I'd be able to take it easy.  Fat chance.  Shitty night in the factory and I ended up going home at lunchtime.  With a blood clot in the ballsack.  As big as one of my balls.  Ow.

Took three weeks for it to disappear.

I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

It is very close to a "nothing" event as far as the procedure or recovery.

I do every now and then. Doc says it's just a cyst from the knot. A dull pain in the sack sucks.

Pro-tip:

They generally perform a number of procedures on the same day.......so be the first guy. You don't wanna be waiting anxiously with other anxious dudes in the waiting room, thinking about it.....

So go first. When you are done, you will feel fine, like nothing happened. And then when you walk into the waiting room, make sure you grimace. Shuffle slowly. Hold onto things as you walk out, as if you are in excruciating pain and barely able to walk.

Trust me, all eyes will be upon you, and the room will fall silent.

Probably not. Maybe the wife should of had her tubes tied instead.

The relief from shooting blanks and no unwanted pregnancies is nice though.

Are they really that cheap?  I don't do health insurance...haven't seen a doctor for more than stitches in 25+ years. But if it's that cheap, I'd do it. I'm 4 kids deep already.

I had it done a year or two ago, the procedure was quick and painless. Although the smell of burning flesh when the doc cauterized the tubes was a little discouraging. Was sore for a while and still had random pains for the next year, but overall a good decision.

Mine was free. Did it over Labor Day weekend three or four years ago. Watched Band of Brothers and The Pacific laying on the couch with an ice bag. It was good.

The doctor will give you post-op instructions. Follow them or your balls will swell up like purple softballs. Have somebody drive you to and from.

Not a huge deal at all. Glad it's done.

All the female birth control in the world is useless if it makes your wife less frisky.

Worst pain I ever experienced. Pulling, tugging, burning, etc for 45 min and then the doc said "ok, now it's time for the left nut"

Procedure was easy, recovery not so much.  You will hear a very wide range of post op results from no problems to the worst experience ever, mine lies somewhere in the middle.  We think I tried to go back to work so soon or something.  Felt like I had been kicked in the balls by a mule for about a month afterwards.  Had the swelling and black and blue balls to prove it

Listen to what they tell you afterward. REST! ICE! Don't be a fucking hero and think because your on pain meds your fine after a day. YOU WILL BE SORRY!! Other than that it's a piece of cake. Just follow their recovery instructions. I'm not fucking kidding dude.

Don't do it!  My balls started filling up right after mine and within several months were the size of cantaloupes!  Doctor drained about a quart of semen out of them and then put me on medication that made me grow tits!

That is so wrong but funny as hell.

I know my time is coming. My dad had it years ago, I just remember the comment about numbing, 'oh it wasnt bad, just felt like a wasp sting on my nuts.'  WTF  That and he said he was laying there counting the holes in the tile ceiling and he saw smoke. He said he ask the doc, "Everything ok down there?"

This is too funny, skip to the 8:00 mark but the whole espiode was funny.

For maybe a year after the procedure, the end of the vas would occasionally poke the nut that it used to be attached to.  Nothing bad and it eventually stopped happening.  My doc cut out a small piece of each vas and showed them to me when I asked.  The one from my dominant side was larger than the one from the other side.  They are larger than I imagined.  He said they send them off to a lab just to confirm that he cut the correct part, and not to test for cancer or anything.  Also, I remember feeling a brief pulling sensation clear up in my gut when he was working with them.

Like others said, have some frozen peas, and it's like a bad day at the dentist but it's not your mouth.

Had it done 2 months after my 3rd son was born.

I got no argument from the wife at that time cuz she was sleep deprived and "done" with babies.

Few days, few Vicodin, ice, no biggie.

Best decision I ever made.

I do. Great decision. Make sure you get a good doc and take something beforehand . I was pretty lit when I went so I didn't mind the pain lol. Doc did a great job so it was an easy heal.

It fucking HURTS!

The doc who did mine said mine was the second worst he had ever done, and the worst was unsuccessful.

It took NINETY MINUTES.

An hour and a half of torture that would make the most hardened Gestapo officer cringe.

Then, a long weekend of frozen vegetables on my bag, and a nice bottle of pain pills.

Not Fun.  Other than the pain pills.  Those were fun, especially washed down with vodka.
