I lift in Vibram Five Fingers. But I'll ask the guys I lift with what they prefer. Appreciate that. Had Adidas recommended to me but there are a lot of models. I emailed the trainer that did it but no response yet. He stays pretty busy. I had the Chuck Taylor's, at least the knockoff kind to try them. But I'm needing the heel to help with getting depth. |

Sounds like you need to work on flexibility a bit. Are you going atg or just having trouble getting past parallel? |

Same here. I didn't use weightlifting shoes when I was a powerlifter, either. Quoted:

I lift in Vibram Five Fingers. That's what I use. Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Same here. I didn't use weightlifting shoes when I was a powerlifter, either. I use Vibram Five Fingers too. I thought I was the only one. Five Fingers feels like weight lifting barefoot but with some grip on the floor. I found out I don't lift well with a heel. |

Quoted: I bolded the retarded part of your post. Quoted: Quoted: Chuck Taylors. Chuck Taylors have a flat, firm sole which is ideal for lifting. Unless you're deadlifting >500lbs you don't really need special made weightlifting shoes. I bolded the retarded part of your post. I deadlifted over 500lbs in high school and never had anything fancier than my regular athletic shoes. YMMV |

Weightlifting is snatch and clean and jerk. You wouldn't DL in weightlifting shoes. You don't need any shoes to DL. You do to oly lift. |

But a Lawyer who lifts Good thing I deadlifted exactly 500lbs without shoes...lord knows I could have died attempting 505 barefoot (of course lifting 2+ bodyweight could kill me too, as learned in GD) |

Does it really matter? I read frayedknot's post as you had to have special made weightlifting shoes to deadlift heavy. I disagreed. I didn't realize I was getting into a terminology debate ![]() |

rrrriiiiiigggghhhhhttttt. Bro, do you even weightlifting? weight·lift·ing/'wat?liftiNG/ noun the sport or activity of lifting barbells or other heavy weights. There are two standard lifts in modern weightlifting: the single-movement lift from floor to extended position (the snatch ), and the two-movement lift from floor to shoulder position, and from shoulders to extended position (the clean and jerk ). |

If you need a heel to get depth then you have mobility issues to straighten out. ETA: I lift in Vibrams. Although I've been eyeing some Romalos. |

Chuck taylors...especially the ones that look like the American flag. You're having freedom help you lift. It's almost like cheating. http://www.coenvanvugt.com/images/cheapconverseoutlet/VAcVXkXE_12963.jpg Quoted:

I only use them for snatch and (full cleans) and jerks. They help. For regular squats and pretty much everything else - from regular back squats, to DLs to strongman events - I really like Reebok nanos. I have Chucks, Reeboks' version of Chucks, Vans, INov8, and the nano beats them all. You can lift in them and run a mile without changing shoes. They take serious abuse as well.

Or you could fix the issue. Wear flat shoes and work on mobility. |

In this case, I "powerlift" barefoot. In my own living room. Doesn't feel like my idea of power lifting though, since I'm only using 40 and 50 lb dumb bells. Quoted:

Ok I typed the above to poke good fun at a dude...and then read the name. Leaving it. Valid question. |
