Anyone have a particular Model of Weight Lifting shoes they recommend ?

I lift in Vibram Five Fingers.

But I'll ask the guys I lift with what they prefer.

Chuck Taylors.

Chuck Taylors have a flat, firm sole which is ideal for lifting. Unless you're deadlifting >500lbs you don't really need special made weightlifting shoes.

Adidas Adipower

Nike Romaleo 2's are what I wear - no complaints other than the price, but I figure they'll probably last a lifetime.

Appreciate that.

Had Adidas recommended to me but there are a lot of models.
I emailed the trainer that did it but no response yet. He stays pretty busy.

I had the Chuck Taylor's, at least the knockoff kind to try them.
But I'm needing the heel to help with getting depth.

Sounds like you need to work on flexibility a bit.  Are you going atg or just having trouble getting past parallel?

New Balance Minimus. Get them fitted properly and get a good pair of socks to go with them.

Reebok Cross lifters.

They are good for a 1st lifting shoe.

Probably go with Nike Romaleos next time.

Are you asking for shoes to lift in, or are you asking for shoes to do Olympic lifts in? There is  very huge difference.

I wear regular running shoes and have a 1x4 I put under my heels when I squat.  Am I going to break myself??

Weightlifting shoes are designed to have an elevated heal to assist in squat, and the two olympic lifts. I don't wear mine for any other lift.

I use Vibram Five Fingers too.  I thought I was the only one.

Five Fingers feels like weight lifting barefoot but with some grip on the floor.  I found out I don't lift well with a heel.

DL'ing is not "weightlifting".  Weightlifting is snatch and clean and jerk.  You wouldn't DL in weightlifting shoes.  You don't need any shoes to DL.  You do to oly lift.

Good thing I deadlifted exactly 500lbs without shoes...lord knows I could have died attempting 505 barefoot (of course lifting 2+ bodyweight could kill me too, as learned in GD)

Ok, I'll bite. What is the technically correct description of deadlift? Weight hoisting? Weight pulling? Does it really matter?

I read frayedknot's post as you had to have special made weightlifting shoes to deadlift heavy. I disagreed. I didn't realize I was getting into a terminology debate

Bro, do you even weightlifting?

weight·lift·ing/'wat?liftiNG/
noun
the sport or activity of lifting barbells or other heavy weights. There are two standard lifts in modern weightlifting: the single-movement lift from floor to extended position (the snatch ), and the two-movement lift from floor to shoulder position, and from shoulders to extended position (the clean and jerk ).

Oh, sorry...weight training.  Also colloquially known as lifting weights, lifting, or even weightlifting.

If you need a heel to get depth then you have mobility issues to straighten out.

I have Adidas Adipowers, bright orange .  I only use them for snatch and (full cleans) and jerks.  They help.  For regular squats and pretty much everything else - from regular back squats, to DLs to strongman events - I really like Reebok nanos.  I have Chucks, Reeboks' version of Chucks, Vans, INov8, and the nano beats them all.  You can lift in them and run a mile without changing shoes.  They take serious abuse as well.
