This thread is about movie characters.
Luke vs Vader Autobots vs Decepticons GI Joe vs Cobra Shield vs Hydra Solo (almost an anti-hero) vs Fett I notice a lot of people with stickers on their cars for the bad guys. I've always been a good guy fan myself. How does GD fall on this, who do you side with? Do you have any preconceived notions about people with good guy/bad guy stickers on their cars? |

Quoted:
Usually the bad guys end up killing innocent people for no good reason...that's the part that almost always makes me side with the "good" guys....even if the good guys have a bunch of things I don't agree with as well. Genocide is a deal breaker for me. If you see someone with a Cobra sticker on their car, what do you think about them? |

I don't think much about them. Did anyone ever die in GI Joe? I was old enough to watch it at the time, but for some reason, didn't. I stuck with things like Thundercats....even that I don't remember any of the motivations or behaviors of the "bad guy". I wasn't thinking children's cartoons when I saw this thread.
Works for all shows though. Batman vs Joker as the other thread floating around GD shows. The most common one i see if Vader fans. |

Who killed Emperor Palpatine? But does that one act make up for killing all the young-lings?
You have a point. |

The reality is, Christianson and Lloyd's terrible acting aside, Vader is a complex and interesting character. Who also looks badass. |

Not all Law is moral or right. More of a Neutral Good with Chaotic Good tendencies here. Quoted: Lawful good is always a good way to go. Quoted: Quoted: I will always side with captain America even against the .gov and Tony stark Lawful good is always a good way to go. |

When do you think that changed, or has it been that way all along? Quoted:

I side with good, but evil usually looks cooler/has better wardrobe. When do you think that changed, or has it been that way all along? Good question but it has been that way for at least 2 decades for me, |

John McClain vs Hans Gruber? Quoted:

Evil characters often have more depth and are more interesting. Characters that are just "good" in most movies seem fake. John McClain vs Hans Gruber? Hey, even I gotta admit, Hans was a more interesting character & a snappier dresser...

Stark "Good vs. evil": not much room there for interpretation. Would I have fought Vader? Sure, certainly wouldn't want that scumbag in charge. Would I rather have a brew with Vader vs. Luke? Not even close! Luke was a little mama's boy snot, Vader coulda kept you rolling (and choking

I guess i know how you voted. |
| I like to look at things not so black and white. The movie "Unforgiven" is a great example. Were the protagonists the "good guys"? I would think Gene Hackman was the good guy. Clint Eastwood was a rotten son of a bitch. Even English Bob was a better human being. I like my fiction to have more moral depth than simply good guys have white hats and bad guys have black hats. |
