It seems like anytime someone posts the word "boat" and even talks about so much as an inflatable raft a mob shows up with trite platitudes of "it's cheaper to rent" and "hole in the water" and "best two days" and a bunch of other quips, all said smugly as if they are some old sage that came up with them.
Elsewhere on the site you have people bragging about: How much money they spent on their jeep (that has never left asphalt) How awesome their F-850 diesel bro dozer is, and when questioned if they have ever hauled more than a bag of mulch they start screaming about communists, hippies, bans, DU, and priuses. How they have 5 silencers that they shoot at an indoor range Carrying anything less than a $4,500 STI les wilson springfield ultra carry XLVI means you don't value your life. How every gun they own has some kind of tax stamp attached to it How they paid cash for every one of the aforementioned items (plus their supermodel wife's Murciélago) Pfft, your wife is still driving a Murciélago? Maybe if you had her in the Veneno you wouldn't be posting a thread about the arfcom curse You financed your wife's highlander? OMG POOR PEOPLE ALERT maybe you should go suck Dave Ramsey's dick or something, peasant All humor aside, this place could turn a thread about mouse traps into a money spending/dick measuring contest yet the mere mention of boats and one is a damned fool... and on the other side of the coin don't you DARE jump in and say one of the aformentined excesses is unnecessary lest you be labeled a communist that wants to ban something (What's it to you if I want to roll coal in my lifted f-750 king ranch, fuckin' commie! I may not haul anything with it but at least i don't have a goddamn boat behind it! pfft!) Did everyone here have some kind of real life deliverance experience? Does anyone have real, articulable reasons for the boat hate or is it all just posturing, ego masturbation and homily? |

arfcom hates everything. Seriously, I often sum up general discussion as a place where on average everyone there would be willing to incinerate the entire world and enslave the survivors into some kind of serfdom where the only jobs available are ammunition manufacturer, provider of raw materials for ammo and concubine respectively. Arms manufacture being a job that they could only entrust themselves or perhaps their closest family and friends with. And often not even close family and friends are not to be trusted with anything more intimidating than a salad fork. |

You mean be "that guy" I've been the boat owning friend before. Yeah, I noticed. I was thinking about buying a deep V fishing boat this summer, since I haven't fished in the summer in quite a while. A friend of mine told me he was buying one. No way in hell I'm buying one now. ![]() So, I have 1 friend with a boat (that rarely takes it out without me, he doesn't know the water like I do) and 1 friend with a nice fish house that rarely goes without me. I kind of have it made. |

A boat AND a Brodozer I imagine most of arfcom has stroked out over that pic, otherwise this thread would be a 87 pages by now. IF ONLY you were rolling coal and had some truck nuts Nice truck and boat |

I love boats...when they belong to someone else. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_cCl1u43mIps/SrKWCPhZ97I/AAAAAAAAACA/PquOTJMqfKk/s400/2004030804_Display-35.gif Hey man, can you throw in $20 for gas? Sure thing bro, here's a Jackson Thanks man. Also it's about $50/hour run time plus $5 every time we start the engine. |

I hate boats because they lose value so damn fast. The only boat I have is a 14ft john boat to fish ponds with...
I don't mind going riding in others people's nice off shore boats, but I don't have any interest in one for myself. Case in point, my uncle had put almost 900K in a nice offshore boat. When he died a couple of years ago, my aunt could barely get 200K for it... |
