I have been tossing around the idea of getting a FAL. I am in the process of researching which varient I want. Given what is out there, what is the best FAL for the money. I would like to stay below the $500 - $600 dollar range as money is tight (I am a college student). Thanks for the input! Althor |

Hate to bust your bubble but much like AR15's you get what you paid for. The best FALs are from DSA. Soldier of Fortune magazine, plus others have put them through really tough tests. I remember reading a test a few months ago, where they put 10,000-rounds in a day through a DSA. They were very impressed. I think Peter Kokalis from SOF said the DSA's were the best FALs EVER made. Bad part is that they start at around $870. I had to pay $950 for my 16" carbine FAL from DSA but its a really solid battle rifle, I'm thrilled by its performance. |

Here's what I got when I was in college. http://www.falparts.com/firearms.asp It is a great rifle. Never jams, shoots accurately. Here's mine: And a target I shot with it: That was at 100 yards rapid fire with SA .308. I since have moved the Kobra site forwards and have gotten better accuracy... [:)] Shawn |

I bought one built on an Imbel reciever and replaced the cover w/a flat top mount and couldn't be happier. With open sights hitting clay pigeons (stationary) at 100 yds is not much of a problem. With a scope (haven't bought a good one yet, got a POS leapers junker on it now) it's a cake walk. |
