Our company has grown very fast of the past 2 years and we are still using normal time clocks. I am looking at rfid key swipe time clocks now.
Anyone have any good/bad experiences using them or managing them?

You'll have more success with a biometric time clock.

the initial setup is fun, but they are good to go.

I use a fingerprint scanner, got it off eGhey for about $150.

Set up was pretty easy, adding/deleting people is really easy, no time cards to buy.

I've been using it for about 2 years, and am really happy with it.  I download info once a week onto a flashdrive.

This is what we decided to go with. I like it because people don't have the opportunity to forget their cards...they've always got their hands though...

That is the benefit. They can't clock someone else in like with many other systems. I've been looking at those for that reason alone.

The scheduling portions of the software (ie: Employee "X" is scheduled from 9-5, fob will only work from 8:55-5:05) are easy to overdo.  I say skip 'em without orders from above or other really compelling reasons.  For most purposes it's good enough that you can track the comings and goings and disable fobs on the fly when needed.

have the bio metric ones been reliable? the few that I looked at had bad reviews

We have rfid ID badges for getting in the gate, punching in and out At the time clock, and for door access for electronic doors.

I make my non-salary employees use one, never had an issue. Ours is connected to the intranet so we can automatically download the time sheets.

Good thing is people can't cheat the time clock by clocking in their buddy that is running late and no one has to remember to bring their card inside.

Thanks this is one of my concerns.

Just put one of these in, seems fine so far.  Only issue I had was one of the employees has barely any finger prints left after years of doing paperwork, her fingers are almost smooth.  Could not get the finger print reader to accept a print so she has to use an on-screen clock in function that doesn't have any biometrics associated with it.
