| what is their rate of error? I'm seeing a lot of ebay autographs that don't look correct but come with PSA or other authentication. How good is PSA at authenticating stuff? |
|
Autograph "certificates of authenticity" are damn near worthless.
If you collect autographs, fine, more power to you. Just know going in that NOBODY who did not personally see an item being signed by the celebrity in question can "guarantee" it is real. Many are genuine, many are fake. It's just the way it is. I recommend studying a lot of autograph specimens from the person you are interested in before making a purchase, so you can at least have some idea of what their signature "usually" looks like. Even if a given specimen looks "off" though, that doesn't mean it isn't real. People's signatures change all the time, often depending on how fast they scribbled it. |

What kind of autograph items are we talking about? In that case, buy from the man himself. http://www.nolanryanfoundation.org/golf/ecom_v2/ecom.php |

I'd just go to a Rangers game, I think he's the president or something. I used to collect autographs, very addicting hobby. It was more fun to get it in person, not only was it free but it had a story behind it. Standing in line is too boring. The only companies I would trust to buy an autograph from are Steiner and Upperdeck. Other than the private companies like Yogi Berra, Gordie Howe and some of the other celebrities have. Quoted:

I've been studying Nolan's signature for 20 years and it looks good to me, but PSA listing it on the wrong ball gives me a bit of concern. |

If the signed baseball came from a company and still in the case than it most likely is real. If the baseball was signed by Ryan to a fan than I would double check the Authentication. I suggest going to a local sport card/memorabilia store. They should be expert on these kind of stuff. A lot of their collectible are posted on Ebay for sale. |

I'm a big autograph collector and I won't touch anything on ebay regardless of user rating. Most of the COA are bullshit not worth the paper they are printed on. Poke around here. http://live.autographmagazine.com/forum |
