TL ; DR = Dodge kept the power numbers the same as the base model Viper, but they are claiming that they will out perform the track records that were established with the 2011 Viper ACR. Of course they were keen to wait to release the new ACR model until after GM released the new Corvette Z06.
2016 Dodge Viper ACR: Meet The Nastiest Street Legal Viper Ever Made May 9, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - The next chapter in the history of the ultimate street-legal, track-focused, hand-built American supercar begins with the return of the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR. Certified for public roads and engineered to wring every last hundredth of a second out of road course lap times, the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR combines the latest in aerodynamic, braking and tire technology – a recipe designed to carry on the ACR's lap-time busting reputation that has made it a legend on race tracks around the world. "The Viper has always been more of a street-legal race car than a track-capable streetcar, and the new 2016 Dodge Viper ACR is the fastest street-legal Viper track car ever," said Tim Kuniskis, President and Chief Executive Officer – Dodge Brand and SRT Brand, FCA – North America. "Our goal is to arm our enthusiasts with the ultimate Viper track car to dominate road courses around the world. http://www.autoblog.com/2015/05/08/2016-dodge-viper-acr-official/ http://jalopnik.com/2016-dodge-viper-acr-meet-the-nastiest-street-legal-vi-1703080695

"The adjustable dual-element rear wing, rear carbon fiber diffuser, unique hood and front splitter produce an obscene amount of downforce. Up to one ton of downforce at 177 mph. The most aerodynamic downforce of any production car." At least it puts the rear wing to good use. |

Quoted: Isn't that the car that couldn't sell so they cut $15,000 off the price and still were priced out of the market? Yep, no doubt with the debut of the C7 ..deflated Viper sales even worse than already were. Dodge fucked up the Gen V rollout and priced the car too high initially. But with the price reduction, it has helped move units. |

Car doesn't need more power, needs all the downforce it an get. Bet that thing sets some records at the ring! I'll put a membership on that At Nurburgring it would need to shave over 15 seconds off the 2010 model to beat Porsche 918 time, and 10 or so seconds more to beat the Radical SR8. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_N%C3%BCrburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times#Production.2C_street-legal_vehicles I have been a fan of the Viper since I was a kid, but that 918 is the car I would have if money was no problem. |

Yeah, I don't think a 645hp Viper is gonna top that one. |

I wonder what Dodge could do if it asked around $900,000 for a Viper..................... I'd bet the Viper will go for around $200,000, even if a bit slower, we're still talking 1/4 the cost. |

I loved Vipers when I was a teenager in the late 90's. The just looked so over the top compared to everything else.
These days... that's pretty much what I don't like about them
Bad ass cars, no doubt. Just wouldn' tbe my choice. Looking forward to seeing it's ring times. |
