She did live to 85. That's a pretty full life, and she will be remembered for a very long time.

Spock isn't really dead. He transported away and now took her with him.

wow, well she did make it to 85, hope I do. Also reminds me of how old I'm getting

She had led a pretty rough life for a while after Star Trek. I'm sort of surprised she lived that long. Sad story. |

Never really watched the show. But happy to hear that she overcame her trouble, and was able to help others. Respect for that.

I think she got turned into one of those small cubes and was crushed, wasn't she? No, she was LT Rand in the last ST movie with the original cast. She ended up as one of Sulu's officers on Excelsior. RIP. |

She never had enough screen time to suit me. RIP dear.
Now for a Star Trek tech question. When I was watching the show as a young teen in the early 70s I automatically "knew" that clipboard she always handed Kirk was more than just your run of the mill aluminum clip/storage board. I just knew it was some type of electronic gizmo. Imagine my surprise when I bought the original series on dvd a few years ago and caught it. I envisioned modern electronic tablets in the early 70s! Too bad I wasn't bright enough to make them a reality. |

He bounced around the stage and didn't stop moving or talking for 90 minutes. Pretty good for anyone, much less someone his age. |

That's sad. Always my favorite female crew member of any Trek series.

Sad. If not for the substance abuse problems, it would have been interesting to see how the Kirk/Rand dynamic would have developed over time.
Still, it gave Kirk the freedom to bang lots more chicks, so there's that. |

Why did I think she was Gene Roddenbery's wife? That would be nurse Chappel Yeoman Rand and Nurse Chappel not the same person? No. Two completely different actresses playing two completely different characters. Roddenberry's, I can't remember how she spells her name though, was also the voice of the ship's computer in The Next Generation. Maybe also TOS but I don't remember for sure. |
