Had a gentleman knock on my door this past Monday night and he pointed out some roof damage I had.  He claims it was caused by a recent storm and that he worked for an insurance restoration company.  He said he could get a new roof on my house and handle my insurance company.

Bells start ringing.  My roof is at least 15-20 years old.  Like hell my insurance company is going to put a new roof on my house because of some missing shingles.  He lets me read over a contract.  I say let me talk with my wife, who wasn't home, so we can look at it together.  He would not let me keep the contract.  Gave me some bullshit excuse as to why.   I said I'll be in contact and he left.

I looked them up and they started the company in Nov 2014.  Odd the references he left me were from 2013.  I Also checked his company's LinkedIn page and its just full of grammatical errors and misspellings.

I e-mailed him the above two pieces of and told him I would not be doing business with him.

He just called me and put the pressure on me big time.  He said I was making a huge mistake and was rambling.

LMAO!  I just hung up.

This is an insurance scam, right?  At least he pointed out the damage to me.  I never knew.   Looks like I need a new roof though.  Fuck.

no, but they'll pick up part of the cost of a new roof if you ask your actual agent to take care of recent storm damage...
one of the reason we have insurance..

in general..... no one who shows up to your front door, offering a service, is legit.  except for girl scouts selling cookies, or the neighbor kid wanting to mow your yard for $20.00. id say hell no to anyone offering anything... except the scouts etc.

roofers, plumbers, driveway sealers, window / floor tiles/ carpet salesmen , selling meat, and shit, etc, do not come by your house because they just " happen to notice something"........ they are busy, and you have to track trades people down to come fix your shit.

always assume its a scam and tell them to beat it. and damn sure never let them in your house....
