Seeing as how my mother's and her family are German, and I kinda doubt that they had much to do with any of that, you wanna lighten your ass up just a bit?

I guess you didn't get the meaning of it.  After all this time of American involvement through money and US lives, the Germans can't stand by us to stop an illegitimate and murderous regime.

What does that have to do with your family and how would you like me to lighten it up?

The title seems to be painting all German with the same brush as their politicions.  I can almost guarantee that the German people as a whole support what we're trying to do.

I knew you'd eventually say something, but these aren't ravings, these are verifiable facts.  Maybe the topic is my "raving" but the last line was also part of the email.  I'll go back and "quote" the email part of it.

3 out of 4 of my grandparents were immigrants from Germany (Mom's Mom was Irish). I am AMERICAN first and foremost, but I have pride in my ancestry as well.

Keep it up...

Don't judge the Germans on their governments.
I mean, look at what represents us here in the US. A lot of folks WE are not so proud of, either.
The Germans that *I* know gave rise to the very best of Americans when they emigrated here.
And there are a lot of good ones still Over There.
You hate Germans? What are you, French?

Well, that's not my intention.  As you can see, the bulk of what is discussed shows that the actions taken by Germany were by their government, which often doesn't follow the people.  However, with Schroeder, you'll notice that an overwhelming proportion of the citizens NOW stand behind him and the anti American sentiment.

Does that mean all German's are bastards?  Nope, it just means (IMO) that right now, the German government is corrupted by short sighted ingrateful bastards.

In that case I'll have to disassemble your post point by point. Stand-by.

If I were going after him personally, I would have directed it at him.  However, ANYTIME there is something related (even comically) to Germany, he posts.

By the way, why are you AMERICANS offended at my comments which are directed at CURRENT Germans???  Maybe you should read what I wrote instead of taking it to mean anything about Americans of German ancestry. [rolleyes]

My mother-in-law moved here from germany as a very young adult right after WWII. She is livid regarding the stance Germany has taken.

She is proud of her heritage, but she considers herself all American after living here most of her life. She is not embarrassed for Germany, she is angry that they could act in such an ungratefull manner.

She thinks they're a bunch of damn Socialists, too. [:)]

Damn Greg, none of this is worth getting all fuzzed up over.  If we can't go over there and kick Saddam's ass without help, we don't have any business going at all.

No argument from me!  However, if you walked into a bar with 3 friends and were provoked into a fight by tyrannical midgets, wouldn't you still be pissed if two of your friends didn't stand behind you to merely show support for you, rather than turning around and accusing you of being a midget bully? [:D]

For the record, I'm not all fuzzed up, I'm just trying not to get accused of hating Germans or anything.  I'm just disgusted by the French and Germans EQUALLY.  I just didn't get anything via email about the French recently!

Let me take a wild guess here, and speculate that someone that names himself after Honoré de Balzac just *might* be French in ancestry.
HAHAHAHAHA! It allllllll becomes clear, little one. The only folks I know that are *that* hateful towards MY ancestry are those that couldn't stop the Germans from walking all over their country whenever the Germans damned well felt like it. What is it now, FOUR times?
You GOTTA be French. LOL!
That explains it.
Well, sugar, we are all Americans now, get the hell OVER it.
Germans are hard-working, scientific, precise, family loving, CLEAN folks that like to drink beer and have a good time.
I can SO see why we piss you off, hahahaha!

This is so silly.
I'm part german (moms side), but I know exactly what balzac is talking about, his post speaks for itself.

AND Don R, being a staff member YOU know what he's talking about when he's generalizing. It doesn't take a fool to know that with each nation, there's different viewpoints, but your gov still has to make a decsion, and his initial post shows the path their gov has decided to take.
Your arguing for the sake of arguing.

Hannah: I'm pretty far from being French, but if you read anything about Balzac, you'd find his comments support the RKBA and have an interesting look on big government and classes of people.  I was a history major, but liked Balzac's work, not to mention, his name always brought a smile to my face.  Yes, I'm immature in certain ways!

However, I'm not French, I'm Norwegian and Italian, so go have a field day and craft up some nice insults.  Won't bother me, BECAUSE I'M AN AMERICAN and only think of myself as such.

DonR, the Swiss are boring and who would debate anything said about them???
