When did the NRA obtain a controlling interest in Pew? I don't know so I'll post this. http://i.imgur.com/k6stwcV.jpg A picture worth a thousand words and what not. |

Quoted: New York has the 5th largest NRA membership in the country. The city fucks us. Quoted: Quoted: This is good news. I wonder what the results would be if isolated only to New York, Connecticut and those other derpfest states. New York has the 5th largest NRA membership in the country. The city fucks us. There's an awful lot of gun owning union Democrats among NY's NRA members. |

Don't forget "union towns" which is Pueblo (who also fucked us, let's not forget that). We wouldn't have had fucking douchenlicker back in office had we excluded Denver & Pueblo. EDIT: The CO GOP also really fucked up in that election as well. |

It's obvious. Hell, that's why Europe has been full retard for so long. |

This is good news. I wonder what the results would be if isolated only to New York, Connecticut and those other derpfest states. Lots of gun owning progressive Democrats in CT, NY and other places with god awful gun laws. Also a lot of NRA members who are Democrats from those places too. Much like NY, CT is run by the liberal/progressive cities. Those cities routinely bring in so many more liberal votes that even if the normally right leaning suburbs voted 100% for the republican candidate the state would still go left. It also doesn't help that the voter turnout in those republican leaning locations is less than 100%. The bottom line is that for many who own guns, they don't rank their right to own them high on the list of things to be concerned about or that gets them to change their vote away from Democrats.
Anyone from a red state should take note of how things have gone in CT and NY. They should realize that no matter how red the state, once the liberals get a big enough base in the cities the state is doomed. The progressives think very long term. |

2004, AWB Sunset
Gathering momentum for interest in ARs and firearms in general (a turning point once there was sufficient inertia and more and more new owners entered the mix) For nearly a decade the AR-15 is the most popular rifle in the country Also: rise of the internet as a common everyday tool allows gun owners who previously may have believed they were a minority to reach out and contact other like minded people, only to discover more and more like minded people, giving them confidence to be more vocal and positive about gun ownership. |

I would also add, after Sept 11 leads to the US invading Iraq and Afghanistan - many new vets come home and want a copy of the rifle they deployed with. |

Not disagreeing with you, but the numbers of people serving in the military is still very small as a percentage of the overall population. I don't know how much of a nationwide impact that would have. Traditionally, police and military have been the largest percent of owners of ARs and other magazine fed semis. I do think the positive view of the military, and the nightly news showing soldiers carrying M-16s. M-4s, etc., did more to popularize the AR and occurred coincidentally when they became more and more available. |
