Question: Over all, I would like to purchase an Aimpoint red dot system for my bushy. But do to lack of $300 plus rail. I am thinking about buying a lower grade one instead. I.E: Bushnell, Simmons, etc. Any suggestions on what and where? Fuk Sadam |

I'm no optics expert, but I'll tell you what I think. Save your money until you can afford a good one. You won't have to buy a better one later, and you won't have to worry about quality. Imagine how I feel; I want an ACOG NSN for my M4Gery! They go for almost $1000 each! |
| I haven't had any experience with Simmons red dot scopes, but I did own one of their shotgun scopes. In a nutshell, they suck ass. After a few rounds at the range the optics became foggy as the seal was worth shit. I returned the scope and got a replacement. Guess what? After a few rounds the next day the same thing happened. Ultimately I purchased a Leupold scope which cost a lot but works flawlessly. I also have an Eotech 552 on my M4gery. Being that it comes with it's own mount (integral to the unit) it's cheaper than an aimpoint. I'd say save and wait. You don't want a piece of crap that will shit the bed on you right when you need it. Hope this helps. |

I played with the Eotech at the SHOT show, and I think if I ever lost my eyesight and wanted to rely on gadgets, this is the one I'd go with. They are the only ones that I've seen with the reticle I want. A small dot inside a larger circle. I believe theirs was a 20 MOA circle with a 3 MOA dot, but I could be wrong. What I really want (that no one makes to my knowledge) is a 10 MOA circle with a 2 MOA dot. Again, all of this is assuming I've transitioned to bifocals and need the help. |

Quoted: I have an OKO on my shot gun and really like it. You might find a member that has an extra from the LEGP a couple years ago. I was wondering FedGunner, At the last MN shoot, it was really bright outside, and was wondering how visible your OKO sight was? I know some people were having a tough time with the bright daylight/ice, flooding out all the brightness of their red-dot sights (even at their brightest settings). I was wondering how yours held up that day? Also, I heard that the full tubular style ones (like on your ColtLW Carbine) shade the glass where the dot is projected, and this shading keeps the dot brighter... Is this rumor true??? Just wondering... -iNuhBaDNayburhood |

I'll tell you what, I bought a Rem 870 slug barrel for my Special Purpose. The barrel came with a integrated scope rail. Being the cheap bastard I am, I went to Wally World (WalMart) and bought a Tasco Red Dot.... That scope is perfect, I can hit a tennis ball sized target dead on at 100 Yrds. You gotta know what you want to do with it, to except the fact that it isn't the most high speed low drag thing on the market. The smart warrior knows what works! not what costs as much!!! RW |
