I'm investing some coin in a good set of tools. I primarily work on motorcycles and firearms just for a small hobby
I've been stocking up on snap on tools for a while now. My garage (where I store the tools) has a good bit of humidity. I would like to coat my wrenches and sockets in something that will keep the rust off of em. I was thinking rem-oil? It seems to be pretty light. Any other suggestions? |

I never had to worry about rust on our chrome tools from Snap-on. Just make sure you keep them clean and you should have no issues. Yep, awesome quality. I had an 3/8ths extension that sat next to a radiator for 5 months. Eventually the vehicle came back in for a service and I pulled it out looking like it was brand new |

Get them good and greasy from use and just wipe them down afterward. They will last forever and not rust unless you leave them in the ocean. Yes my dad has tons of snap on tools he bought back in the early 80s when he was a deisel mechanic and they all still look very good. A ratchet he bought way back then recently broke internally, and the local snap on route guy repaired it on the spot for free. They cost a lot but are worth it if you rely on your tools. |

Snap on are chromed to hell, they won't rust. if they do chase down a truck and get new ones. If you've got chrome Snap-On tools, this is the correct answer. If you've got industrial finish or impact tools, an occasional wipe-down with something like Boeshield or a light penetrating oil won't hurt. |

Steel wool...on Snap-On tools...nope Quoted:

They're tools. Just use them like they are meant to be used and no rust will have a chance to accumulate. If they do rust, steel wool it and consider it patina, like an old gun. Steel wool...on Snap-On tools...nope (Chrome is harder than steel...) And who cares? Fuck it up, snap it in half and get a new one... |

I've never had an issue with rust on [i]any[i] chromed tools, and it stays pretty humid here in Georgia. Now, I do get the occasional surface rust on *some* chrome-moly impacts, but its almost always with the cheaper finished tools. I just hit them with either steel wool or a wire wheel, and spray 'em with whatever oil is the closest.

My snap on tolls are in excess of 25 years old....they stay in the garage....never had any rust issues except with ratchet internals... If ya use your tools....they will get coated in plenty of oils, greases and other anti-rust inhibiting goop. +35 years here...in various garages...never seen a bit of rust ever. |

harbor freight toss them when they get dirty you still come out ahead of strap-on. With that comment, you obviously don't use tools for a living! I have Snap On tools that are close to my age and no rust! I, now have a good Matco driver and I buy from him more than Snap On(my snapon driver is a flake now), however if you use the tools they will never rust! |

I don't see why everyone gets a boner overpaying for snap on. Give me the same car, same issue side by side and my Harbor Freight tools will work just the same and not break. You guys have been reeled in like your lowly barber who spent $450 on a set of scissors. your medulla oblagada. |

no, when you use them all day, every day.. snap-on is worth it. that harbor freight shit. wait till you strip out a hex bolt on a crank pulley and spend the rest of the day, drilling it out, or trying to air chisel it off, you'll wish it was a snap-on socket. |

What is this?
