Van Halen played on Ellen....with David Lee, they sounded good.
David has aged. By the way I don't watch Ellen, mom was watching it upstairs while she was making me my meatloaf and macaroni & cheese Haha I crack myself up sometimes |

David Lee Roth now sounds like a dick salesman with a mouth full of samples. His voice is shot. Eddie and Alex haven't lost anything...other than one of the best bass players out there. Eddie has ruined that band from what it once was with his bullshit. Sadly this. |

| saw VH in 2012 an rosemont, sounded great, but... dave was old and had these big puffy white ortho sneakers on. looked like clown shoes, flopping all over an whatever. made a big speech about living on a sheep ranch for 30 years. eddie was absolutely outfuckingstanding. kool and the gang opened......it was really awful. far cry from the US FESTIVAL. |

Yep, because he was always more 'singer' than 'showman'... DLR has nothing left to offer. Hell I wont deny that I LOVE Van Hagar, to me the songwriting was much more mature with him involved. Thats NOT to say its better than 78-84 VH, but its just as good IMO. |

I love how they wouldnt give Wolfgang a SINGLE solo shot... haha. Dont think you ever even see his face.
Not to dog the kid so much but it must suck to have to come in and replace an original member of VH... but he deserves it - playing with a pick and all haha.

Saw them live in 1979. DLR sucks today. Voice is shot from too much Cocaine. Not saying he didn't do coke but his voice is 30 years older than when he sang the VH hits. There's only so much abuse a voice can take before it gives up. He abused his pretty hard and I doubt he has continued practicing in recent years. The voice is a use it or loose it instrument. If Eddie quit playing guitar for 5 years he could pick it up again and in a few months of dedicated practice sound like his old self. A voice isn't that forgiving. |

they aint what they used to be.
Alex and Eddie sound okay could give a shit about Wolfie DLR sounds like shit. Good thing I got to experience them all DLR and Sammy eras, live. I didn't buy into the Gary era..actually, nothing since SH. dont think I'd buy a ticket this time around sad too, they were my favorite band growing up. |

DLR has never quit performing over all these years. There are some fairly recent videos on Youtube and he sounds like he is singing those his nasal passages. something somehow got screwed up bad. They are 60 years old now though. Hell I'm 53 and could not dream of being able to move the way DLR can today. |

Quoted: I saw Van Halen and I thought they were awesome....oh shit that was 1982 Edit: But fuck you whippersnappers, Dad bought me and my brothers SP1's in the 70's, so I've been rockin the AR platform longer than you. |

Is he just shouting? I saw them in Chicago in 2012. I'd never seen them with DLR, so I made a point to go. I enjoyed it, but his voice wasn't that great. It apparently has not improved. I saw Van Hagar twice. Sammy is a MUCH better singer. And he can play a guitar too. How about that. I also saw them for the tour with Gary Cherone. Unfortunately, he never had a chance. And it's too bad. He's a great singer too. Just a different kind of singer. They're coming to Salt Lake in July. Still not sure if I want to pony up the dough to see them. |

| Saw them in 1984 with Roth. Their peak. Saw them again in the early 90's with Hagar as a guest of the band. Good show but ill take anything they did before the breakup. Singers don't age well typically. I point to Robert Plant who fronted my favorite band as additional proof. |

RP may not have everything he had back in the day, but he still does very well.. DLR could only have a wet dream to be where RP is now. |
