Ok Sylvan, I am about to commit ARFCOM suicide. I have read many of your threads on this site, and you have really made me think about things. I enjoy reading your ideas. First, I want to point out: I am fascinated with firearms; pro-life; consider myself conservative and strongly support the War with Iraq. The “superman” needs to be taken out! I feel we, as Americans need to begin shaping events, instead of waiting for events to shape our policies. That stated, I agree that my party of choice needs to change (not all of us are trolls). But in order to do this those of us who were born into this party need to slowly open the eyes of the others. I think it is going to take 15 years for my party turnaround. Interesting article. Definitely makes one think. |

Things change. Parties Change. Would JFK be a democrat or a republican? His policies were nearly lockstep with what would define a Republican today. I frankly don't like what the Republicans have become and consider myself a libertarian ideologically. But I think events are too important to waste my vote on so I vote Republican. Can I believe that I don't think abortion should be illegal but also believe that it is a repugnant act and isn't a constitutional right? Can I believe in immigration but not believe in a welfare state? Can I believe drugs should be legal but that they are stupid? Can I hate criminals and not be labeled a racist? You make the best choice you can. Peggy just articulated why blind faith to the democrats is not a good idea. They are not the party of JFK, they are the Party of Clinton now. I refuse to be a part of that. |
