A friend of mine never thought he would be able to afford an AR. I told him he was wrong and set out on helping him get one. Today I helped him put together his stripped lower that he bought for $35 from a link on here. I was able to track down an upper for him on the EE. Aside from irons his rifle is done and he is very happy with it. I was able to get him a decent AR for about $600 and it wouldn't have been possible without you all. I'd like to thank you all for everything I've been able to learn from here over the years I've been a member and for the ability to be able to make him a new AR owner today.
I'm working on getting him signed up here in the next few days so he might even post in here. Welcome to the club fred.

Is that a Mini-Y I see? Yes. It came with the upper. It was a pretty good deal and I gave him a few parts to use for his rifle for free of course. This is what this site is about IMO and personally I'd like to see more people doing stuff like this when I log on. |

Be sure to educate him on the need for double ear protection. Functionally those brakes work great, but they are freaking LOUD! You don't want to discourage him before he can really get going with black rifles.

He's not new to guns but he is new to AR's. He's in my battalion so he also has an issued M4 and has also shot louder things and bigger things than this. He's no stanger. |
