Where can I buy large quantities of tannerite to shoot? I was at the range and saw some guys had big doggy bags of stuff and mixed it at the range to shoot and blow up.
They filled up 4 of those large cheese puff plastic containers. Where did they get all that stuff? I know for sure they didn't goto academy and buy a bunch of singles and put it in one big bag. |

I did manage to get on Amazon and see these exact items after I posted. Why is it so expensive? When I did Google search it said fertilizer company stores sell a 50lb bag for less than $50 but could not Google good enough to see any stores near me that carry it. It may just not be listed online and have to give them a call. Still not sure what or where a fertilizer store would be since I've never had any experience dealing with them. |

I never found a local source, granted I didn't really look that hard. I bought 25 lbs and that's probably all I'll use all year so an extra $25 so my lazy ass doesn't have to do anymore googling, calling, and driving works for me. |

Some of that Ammonium nitrate has urea added to it. Make sure you're buying urea-free bags. |

Considering most pre-packaged targets are $6-7/lb, that isn't too terribly expensive. |

I haven't used the stuff I bought from that seller yet, just went off the reviews, though obviously what I got could be different from what they got. |

If it's an add for tannerite stuff, you'll be fine. |

Quoted: They pretty much stopped selling AN 34-0-0 in my part of the country in the 50 lbs bags. And I hate to say it but they are right...it can be misused. Sorry but it is the truth. Almost anything can be misused. |

Try here. http://www.usachemicalsupply.com/apps/webstore/products/show/5257911 This is exactly what I was looking for. I recall the guy saying something about usachemicalsupply. Thanks! I do think the better deal is off amazon though... |

I do think the better deal is off amazon though... Pretty close, kinda depends on how much aluminum powder you use and how much you get, that site doesn't say. The 5 lbs I linked at amazon is enough for 100 lbs of targets based on 20:1 ratio but their website says use about 12 grams which is closer to 40:1. |

Most of the mix ratios I've seen are 95/5 by weight. Not sure if your post is equivalent or not but just saying. Quoted:

Make your own. 20 parts ammonium nitrate to 1 part aluminum powder Most of the mix ratios I've seen are 95/5 by weight. Not sure if your post is equivalent or not but just saying. Your version is 5% aluminum, his is 4.76% aluminum. Probably close enough not to make a difference. |

most farm stores in my area don't stock ammonia nitrate. have to go to a specialized fertilizer dealer. AN draws moisture bad, coated is fine you just have to put it in a blender to break it up( before adding aluminum powder). even then most will not sell you the nitrate unless they know you and know you have a specific use for it. like farming.
1 pound blended nitrate to 1 small tablespoon of at least 600 mesh alum powder. the more better you mix it the better the boom. |
