Just recieved an 03A3 from my Dad, just a quick question for anyone who owns an 03A3 rifle.  The rear mounting screw which goes behind the trigger guard into the back of the reciever seems to be a little short.  Should they go all the way through and seat flush with the top of the reciever or is it normal for it to only go partially through.
        Thanks in advance Pluckmaster.

That is normal for an 03A3, they drilled and tapped the rear tang hole thru for ease of manufacture.
On 1903's it's a blind hole and the screw was a little shorter than an A3 screw.

Shucks, now ya' made me go open the safe and start pulling out firearms.  the Loving-Bride-of-Over-Twenty-Years hates it when I do that....

The rear receiver screw on my SC 1903AC is about 1/4" below the top part of the receiver.  It certainly is well short of being flush...

If ya' wanna feel a little better about it, then pull out both the front and rear screws. the front screw is much, much shorter than the rear one...

If you want me to measure lengths, just let me know....I'll be spreading rifles all around the living room for a while now....
