Anyone else have any issues with this?
Not talking about getting drunk...Just having a couple beers while shooting. |
|
Never done it, but I wouldn't have a problem with it because I don't drink enough to cause issues (I don't think I've ever been what most people would call "drunk"). Other people... heck no, I don't want them anywhere near my if they have a gun and they're drinking. |

No. Besides, what if you are drunk one night at your house and have to defend yourself against an intruder? How are you supposed to get good at shooting while drunk if you don't shoot while you're drunk? Crack open another, big boi. What if the intruder is also drunk? |

| I have no problem with having some drinks with friends and shooting some cans or targets. Been doing it since highschool, during the army, and as a civilian. Just understand who you're with. I would never do that around children or at an open range though. Only private property with people I have decided I would already die for. |

I don't condone the behavior but....
There are places in America where you do not go deer hunting w/o a 12 pack of beer. It's not uncommon in specific regions to have your tags checked by the warden or sheriff, holding your shotgun in one hand, and drinking a frosty cold Milwaukee's best in the other. Not a word will be said about your alcohol consumption but god help you if you have the wrong tag or throw a pile of corn out in the woods.. |
|
A good analogy is driving. Now God knows I love to tie one on during the weekends. But no matter how much I drink, I would never dream of getting in a car and driving during my imbibing. I believe the ability to draw the permanent line in the sand usually comes with age and experience. |

Growing up I'm sure my Dad did it daily...Just something I never really thought about then. |

Worried about coming up short in the reach department? |

I've always wanted to see a study/test with BAC and sim guns. See how accuracy is affected and safe handling, etc. I wonder if it would be like when I shoot pool. Decent when sober, completely suck after a few beers, then shoot amazing once my vision is blurry. Of course the safe handling would be a concern since I generally tend to drop my stick a few times after heavy drinking. |

I don't feel either is right or wrong, I see logic in both. It ultimately depends on you and how you were brought up. Where I'm from it is 100% normal. But some people I have met along the way would throw a fit over it. |

Question for the guys that say any drinking and shooting is just plain stupid:
Would you go out for dinner and have a beer or glass of wine, then drive home while obviously not intoxicated? Okay, one more question: Should we drop the legal limit for driving to zero with no exceptions because drinking and driving obviously don't mix? |

Okay, one more question: Should we drop the legal limit for driving to zero with no exceptions because drinking ND driving obviously don't mix? I have made a personal (albeit severe) rule of never driving after consuming ANY alcohol. Just something I decided to do many years ago. I NEVER have a beer or wine or a drink when we go out to eat, and brother, my wife and I eat out all the fucking time. And if you frequent GD, you know the weekend drunk I am. ![]() |

Anyone else have any issues with this? Not talking about getting drunk...Just having a couple beers while shooting. No never, Firearms and alcohol or drugs plus me don't mix in my world. If I was shooting or invited to shoot and someone had been drinking or started drinking I will pack up and leave. Shooting is a deadly serious business and i ain't getting killed because you have to have a few beers while you shoot. |
