Takes a hell of a ventilation system to manage the indoor climate for an indoor pool. I've built several motel properties that have them and they're great if you have the right equipment to get/keep the humidity right. If not they just grow mold and mildew.

There is one in a funky, custom 70s luxury bachelor pad here.  The moisture did tens of thousands in damage to the house.  It was on the market for years.  I think someone finally bought it and started a major renovation.

And here I am contemplating some dream home plans that would include a "Florida room" type of pool enclosure to allow year round pool usage.

Really wanted an indoor hot tub to help my poor old bones\spine, humidity was my concern as well.

Completely covering the water surface, with floating ping pong balls, will retard evaporation, and help with the humidity.

You can do it.  You just have to do it correctly.

Designed lots of them.  You have to totally isolate the space from the rest of the house and put the room on its own heating/cooling system.  With LOTS of ventilation.

No way to do it "on the cheap".

It's a reference to an old member here "hielo" who claimed his wife put in a 1000' sq ft bathroom for a birthday surprise but when called on it he reneged on posting pics of said bathroom and then pulled a Houdini

I did HVAC setups on several in home pools. You basically need a reheat dehumidification unit and also a really big exhaust air fan for the summer months. It costs a small fortune to run the HVAC systems in these rooms as you are constantly trying to remove humidity. A high quality cover does help a lot though.

Sorry to hear about your hard times man. I guess an indoor is ok if you can't afford an outdoor heated. Hope things get better.
