Basically, using your computer or any backlit electronics at night will mess up your circadian rhythm which will cause difficulty sleeping in addition to a wide swath of other health problems.
Your computer screen emits blue lights which mimic sunlight and fool your body into thinking that it's still daytime which will inhibit melatonin production and jack up your sleep cycle. Using electronics at night can eff you up F.lux is a free program that reduces the blue light to help you fall asleep.
https://justgetflux.com It honestly has helped me fall asleep at night. You can set a time when you normally wake up and it will automatically adjust the colors for you around the time you'll be going to bed. It cycles between day, sunset and bedtime. Would recommend. |

this actually helps. starting using it in 2013 i think
i've also found that melatonin is amazing for sleep as well. bought some dissolving tablets and felt skeptical up until 30 mins after taking one. flat out put me on my ass and gave me 8 hrs of sleep downside is that i had dreams on dreams on dreams. for the first time in my life, i had a dream within a dream. |

Thanks for posting! I just downloaded the program to see if it helps. Hope it helps It took a day or so for me to adjust to it, but it's well worth it. The orangish/reddish color of the screen was kinda weird, but now it doesn't bother me at all, I actually prefer it. Ive noticed much less eye strain as well. |

My eyes already feel less strained by looking at the orange color versus the blue lighting. Thanks again! |

I don't have my computer in the bedroom and I wouldn't leave the monitor on all night anyway. I sleep in the dark. Is this a bandaid for those that leave a computer or television on in the bedroom when they try to go to sleep? if not what is the point? |

This is for people who use their computer within few hours of going to bed, and people who get eyestrain from staring at screen for long periods of time. |

This is good. Also going camping without any electric devices at all can help to "reset" things. Unless you have tinnitus, then it's just an exercise in patience. I always end up reading a book by headlamp until about 2am, then waking up feeling dead, then sleeping like a rock on night two. |

For me personally, if I invert the colors, and the screen is mostly black, I get a headache the next day. Stay safe Quoted:

Inverted the colors on my ipad: Not as good as red, but it helps some. For me personally, if I invert the colors, and the screen is mostly black, I get a headache the next day. Stay safe Yeah, I wouldn't want to do it for hours. Maybe for 30 min while the wife is trying to sleep. |

Screen has a yellowish tinge compared to before, not loving the look but we'll see what happens. I have no trouble sleeping in any circumstances so I'm looking for a revelation here. |

Is this one of those tricks where out of nowhere it switches to... http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100523045459/unanything/images/4/43/Seizure-rainbow.gif Nope |
| I used to have all kinds of issues sleeping ten years ago. I read books on the subject as did my wife, and tried it all. No caffiene after 12:00, no power naps, go to sleep at the same time every night, etc... After six months I was a basket case, worsethan ever before. So I thought about everything I used to do before I had issues and started doing that. So now I get 5.5 hours of sleep a night, take ten minute power naps if needed, drink coffee up to going to bed every night, go to bed when I feel like it. Have never had an issue since. |

Give it time.. after you use it for a while you won't even notice the screen looking different. |
