90 something buick. Keeps burning out the fusable link to to the cooling fan(probley a bad fan). It's easyer to change the fuse than the link. untill we find the problem, and might just leave the fuse instead of the link.

Can I replace the fusable link with a fuse?
If so, Do use the same gage fuse as the fusable link?

..you should be able to......the main advantage to a link...it has slo-blo charachteristics..that a fuse does not....so it will withstand a little heat before it fries.....you can try to bump up the fuse 5 amps or so if you need to....but make sure you watch it fail once or twice..if possible so there is no fire.....you can also replace a fuse with a circuit breaker....for multiple problems...but make sure you get extras since they last an indefinite period of time.....shoot some wd at the bearing area of the motor...and clean up or put a new/additional ground on the motor
